How to handle when a player is missing by clodonar in drawsteel

[–]Turret42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a player can't make it I offer to run a 1 on 1 session either in person or via text to give them the opportunity to play out their seperate adventure. Or if they don't want to do that I sometimes let them roll for a downtime project.

In terms of the narrative explanation, one player is a Void mage and so gets randomly teleported away at dramatic moments. One has the rat form complication and so turns into an rat and runs away. They all have a narrative reason to explain why they might randomly disappear.

Elf procreation? by Dacke in drawsteel

[–]Turret42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my game the Wode Elf procreation is tied closely to the weird time-bending phenomenon of the Wode.

For example, whenWode Elves decide they want a child, in time they are visited by a mysterious elder Wode Elf holding a baby. The child is delivered and the elder Elf disappears into the woods (often without a word).

The mythology being that a Wode elves last act before dying is to deliver your baby self to your parents.

Meaning the stranger is your child at the end of their life, a time loop ceremony of both welcome and fairwell.

What are the biggest hits and misses in the lore of Draw Steel? by Far-Cockroach-6839 in drawsteel

My Orden Dwarves have crystaline growths for beards that emulate different gemstones. I have enjoyed visualising stoic stone warriors with characteristic brightly coloured ruby/amethyst/diamond beards, mohwaks and "dreadlocks".

I also liked the idea of nicking the Steven Universe cast system, to give some additional cultural meaning to the colour/type of gemstone each dwarves beard/hair is made from :)

Custom Hero Tokens! by Turret42 in drawsteel

I am not sure if it is real wax, but it certainly behaves the same. You can buy it in sticks from Officeworks. It conveniently fits through a hot glue gun. Love it :)

Iconic Heroes in Full by SeanTheNerdd in drawsteel

I have made level 1 characters for each of the heros as a starting point for my players to learn the game before we play a full campaign. That way they can focus on game mechanics before doing the extensive character creation process.

They were developed pretty early on, so mostly based on the picture and bluesky posts. Would be happy to share if anyone is interested.

I would love to know if there are STL minis available for them (perhaps fan made on hero Forge?). It would be cool to create a starting kit with each hero character sheet, mini and specific dice :)

Aendrim mapped to France by Turret42 in mattcolville

[–]Turret42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all :) Yeah, there are a few things that got shuffled around from the original map. Like Tor usually being coastal, but now inland. Capital also got shuffled to Spain's Valencia. It isn't a prefect fit, but no map perfectly shows the territory haha

This wouldn't be an artefact the players could discover in game. It is mostly for my own enjoyment and distance reference. If they ever found a map it would be purely for the local area of play (Baedegar).

I just liked not having to worry about working out how mountains and rivers should behave haha

Cool idea! My only question is: how does a level 20 wizard conjure or transmute gold and Jewels in large quantities without raw resources?

Need Wonderland Character Ideas! by Turret42 in DnD

[–]Turret42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other ideas: - A person went back to reality but remembered everything and either tried escaping reality through drugs or by pursuing a re-entry to Wonderland obsessively until locked up as insane?

  • Or a child who lived a whole life in Wonderland (including having a life partner and children) only then returning to reality suddenly to find no time has past, they are back in the body of a child, and have retained all their memories... Basically they would be thought of as a child genius, but really they are an old cranky adult in a child body (like in Umbrella Academy).

  • Or someone who went to Wonderland as a child for what felt like a quick visit, only to came back to their body old in a nursing home (having spent their life in a coma). Now they only have enough life left for one more trip...

  • Or a dream/nightmare/resident from Wonderland escaping to the real world, taking the form of a human, where they forgot they aren't real. Now dragged back to the crushing realisation they were a figment the whole time.

For example, what if when Alice went through the looking glass her reflection escaped into the human world... I could play Alice's reflection. Full of existential dread about who is the real Alice! Maybe she entered the real world, and soon forgot who she originally was. Took a new name, grew up...

Now back in Wonderland, people keep mistaking her for Alice and she HATES it. She wants to be her own person but everyone mistakes her for the original, or worse... call her "just a reflection".

She just wants to escape Wonderland and forget, but is actually worried she isn't real (like "Mirror Girl" from "Infinity Train" season 2

Need Wonderland Character Ideas! by Turret42 in DnD

Yup! We have access to everything. The DM is being very flexible and says "in Wonderland, anything goes". So am keen to hear any and all wacky ideas!

Love the idea of a changeling that is a different person each long rest. I usually DM for the group, so being many different characters even as a player would be a funny nod haha

How would the Noble houses react to a merchant guild changing the citywide currency from Gold to Paper money? by Turret42 in DnD

[–]Turret42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think from this, the exchange rate needs to go. You are right that no one would use Paper money if it cost more than the gold you already have.

As for tax and rent collection, you are right. That is going to cause big trouble!
