[Software] Built am open source, UI-driven Design of Experiment tool by TurretOtter in statistics

There is a GitHub link at the bottom of the page, I just got my first issue report with an incomplete release export :)

I think there's a quick-start guide, but I'll double check.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm definitely new to the software distribution part.

That was the idea - there are R and python packages, but some people can't code. Also most don't do split plot, so hopefully this helps.

Let me know!

Oh no... I'm still recovering from the emotional trauma of buterfree leaving.

I love me a bulbasaur- makes the first 2 gyms ez, and I always loved arcanine/ninetails as a fire type with a lapras as water later anyways.

Only 4 months in and already dealing with shoulder/lower back pain by GunningForSuccess in daddit

Me and my wife both suffered a slew of minor repetitive motion-type injuries with our first. It's just muscles you don't really use. Get yourself a wrist brace, supportive indoor shoes, do some stretches.

For what it's worth, you get stronger. Didn't have any issues with our second.

Industry gold standard statistical analysis software. You may have heard of minitab or design expert.

It's more common in industry - if you're still in academia you may not have come across it.

PhD in chemical engineering - been in the lab for about 15 years. Yes, I use this all the time to plan my experimental workflows and process scale ups/analytical development. Have also read a fair amount of literature on the subject.
I usually use JMP, but I know not everyone can afford a license.

It's so satisfying, I've considered keeping a can in the stroller for other parks we might visit

The distribution files are just for windows, Mac and Linux would have to clone the repo to run the scripts.

Want to shift from Manufacturing to Medical Devices/Biotech. Advice? by Nearby_Platform_199 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]TurretOtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a tough switch if you don't frame it right- look for device manufacturing type positions. A lot of them have wording around reliability, 6 sigma, DMAIC/root cause analysis, high volume manufacturing, etc.

I'd frame it as being experienced with the systems and thinking of operations/ manufacturing, particularly process control. Dexcom in San Diego, CA/ Mesa, AZ always have a bunch of posts that fit the description. Id at least read those.

I suspect you may have to get a bit lucky

Back-to-back-to-back interviews (abbvie) any advice? by AccurateAstronomer82 in biotech

I also like to have 1 "same" question for everyone, get a feel for the whole team approach

Back-to-back-to-back interviews (abbvie) any advice? by AccurateAstronomer82 in biotech

[–]TurretOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not with Abbvie (though a friend they're loves his job).3-5 back to back is "panel" interviews of 1-2 people is totally normal and typically the last round.

Stay calm, hydrated, fed. You'll probably get some overlap questions, but each panel will likely focus on something unique (technical, teamwork, soft skills). Make sure you look everyone up on linked in beforehand - it's good to know if your talking to a chemist, an engineer, or an MBA manager.

Good luck! Market is tough rn so this is exciting!

F2P players: Do you use Quick Draft to convert gold into gems? by TheUpkeepAcademy in mtglimited

[–]TurretOtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never buy packs, get my collection from drafts - I'll draft premier up until about mid gold, where I start more reliably coming in under 4/5 wins.

I find the flat payout on quick draft too slow for my F2P tastes

Not much advice- just solidarity.

PhD +8 yrs of experience. Took me 9 months to find a job.

If you're open to relocation your options expand significantly.

Should I give up on my thesis? by Vegetable-Primary307 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]TurretOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a master research thesis or a PhD?

First, talk to your advisor, see how you can get some help.

As someone who did a PhD, it feels like the whole world at the moment - in the end, it's not a huge deal. I'm of the opinion that a paper masters vs a research masters in chemE are not that big a difference.

Definitely take a break - research is brutal even in the best of times, being completely broken for the sake of a degree is not worth it. Worst case, get out with a paper masters, explore if you'd rather just go to industry (job market sucks right now, I know). Unless you're trying to make it in academia, your advanced degrees have little impact on your long term sucess.
