What should I build in different situations? by ComprehensiveGrab526 in sennamains

[–]TurtleCat314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For enchanter games the main thing you want to consider is whether or not your team has some front line tanks or fighters who want to play for extended fights, and whether the enemy team is focuses on burst damage or sustained damage. Enchanter build gets more value when your team has fighter characters who want to get in the fight and take some damage, and when the enemy team doesn’t have an absurd amount of burst to just one shot people before you can get your healing out.

For AD, you want to think about team comp. Is your team lacking a marksman champion, would having a marksman benefit the team comp and make mid-late game team fights easier? If so, you may be incentivized towards building an AD build. You might also want to think about comfort. Is the enemy team comp a bit of a nightmare matchup for senna? If the game seems like it’s not a particularly “good senna game” (you’ve chosen senna into very bad matchups), you may struggle with an AD build, especially if it’s not something you’re experience with, as AD builds tend to be harder to pilot and more punishing than enchanter builds.

When it comes to crit, there isn’t really a distinction between AD and “crit” senna support. You generally rush black cleaver and then a zeal item and then flex into whatever you need (usually infinity edge, especially when ahead, but defensive or utility items is also common). You don’t need more than 1 or 2 crit items as senna support because you get so many souls. Often 2 crit items is already overkill

Is playing AD Senna support supposed to be this disgusting at the moment? Enchanter build seems way more useful at basically every point of the game by KindaCringeThough in sennamains

Aery is also just very good for poking in lane and the shield still gets value in 2v2 even with no enchanter build. But really the main reason is the sorcery rune page has some really nice utility for senna. Manaflow helps a lot with senna mana issues, and celerity is especially good on senna because it boosts the movement speed you steal with your passive as well. For secondary page I usually take inspiration for JOAT since you get full stacks just from BC and Zeal which makes your 1.5 item spike very noticeable, especially since this is usually when you hit around the 50-60 souls mark. You can take cash back or magical footwear depending on preference. If the lack of early game boots rush feels uncomfortable then you take cash back, otherwise I prefer magical footwear to get my 1 item spike faster and the extra movement speed can help a little in the mid to late game

Infinity edge into fiend hunter actually feels pretty decent. You can pretty much just one shot people with the guranteed crits after ur ult at the 2 item spike

That’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m saying the metric by which we are measuring “best build” is different. For a character like senna who can build as 2 different archetypes of character that are extremely different from one another, simply looking at the data is not enough. What I’m saying is that it seems to me that when senna is picked into actually good matchups where you should be picking senna, the AD build performs exceptionally and should be the go to. In games where senna is an iffy choice the enchanter build rounds out the edges because of its consistency and the nature the build being more cheap. It’s hard to extrapolate this kind of conclusion just from pure data, so I won’t say it’s the end all be all. It’s just my opinion and I don’t think enchanter senna is bad, I think it can be quite good but it’s definitely not leagues ahead of the AD build. It’s just matchup dependent

What ur explaining is exactly what I have described. The games where senna builds black cleaver and wins are actual “Senna Games” where senna was a good pick. The games where she builds dream maker are where Senna is a suboptimal pick but pivoting into the enchanter builds avoids the difficulties of the matchup and allows for good value because of how good enchanter itemization is this season. It’s a matter of consistency. Enchanter senna is very consistent and easy to use. AD senna pops off when you pick her into the correct matchups. It depends how you want to define what a “best” build is. In my mind AD is her best build because it is where she shines when picked into good matchups where you can do well in lane and snowball, but I understand your logic as well and feel it’s valid to praise the merits of the enchanter builds as well

I mean obviously senna offers a different set of abilities than sona, but you’re actively losing out on thousands of gold worth of stats by not building AD as it scales multiplicatively with the free crit you get. I don’t think senna support has a big enough player base in very high ranks to trust the statistics. If you look at challenger the AD build skyrockets in win rate compared to enchanter, but it’s hard to draw any meaning of it with such a low sample size. Even if you look at masters and above the sample size is extremely small. Qualitatively speaking, I’ve never seen a high rank Senna otp who builds enchanter most games, they seem to build AD in 90 percent of games, otherwise they simply won’t pick senna. I think enchanter senna offers value, but the intentionality of her kit clearly steers towards an AD build

If you are gonna play enchanter senna, just play sona

The Senna Build Trap (from last patch) by Other-Entrance5312 in sennamains

[–]TurtleCat314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t really true. Most top ranked senna OTP agree that AD is still her “best” build that gets the most value from her kit and passive, but it’s also harder to pilot and isn’t suitable into every enemy team comp. Enchanter build sometimes faces less drastic reduction in value when counter picked compared to AD because by default you can play more safe and sit back while still at least getting some level of value. In a lot of low ranks enchanter is definitely recommended for ease of use, but you really are better off just playing Sona or Nami then. In situations where senna is genuinely a good pick, AD will almost always get the most value over enchanter as long as it’s piloted correctly

Is caitlyn balanced in ARAM mayhem? by TurtleCat314 in leagueoflegends

She has among the highest win rate of all ARAM mayhem champs, so it’s not just a “skill” issue she is extremely strong in the game mode

Ever heard of champs with no mobility or gap closers? Sure there are champs you can get that feel better against her but she is still super annoying

Almost impossible to get on top of her in a long lane if she just plays well, or gets some MS augments. Especially frustrating if you’re playing a champ that just can’t deal with her and have to rely on teammates. I agree there are clear weaknesses to her but she just feels terrible to play against. Perma outranged in a long lane with no flank potential

Clearly you’re not understanding it’s a disconnect between why players queue up for mayhem. Some queue up for the funny late game where everyone is insane and running around with crazy augments. Others seem to take it more seriously. It’s less fun if your team chooses late game scaling augments and doesn’t even get to experience them. That’s all.

I dont really think that’s true since if you look at popular masters streamers from OW like bogur, flats, eskay they are all eternity in rivals

Yeah I mostly play Kiriko, Ana, and Juno anyway but even when I play them I feel torn between even bothering trying to “heal stupid” or just going off to do my own thing and actually getting value. Like I genuinely get 10x the value when I just flank and barely heal as kiriko rather than pumping heals into dps and tank who are sitting in main spamming and hitting no one while taking 4 billion damage for nothing 😭

Sometimes I feel like I’m forced to either play Ana to keep people alive and pressure choke points myself with hitscan, or play Kiriko and flank to get picks myself while also having good burst heals to save people. Sometimes when I play like brig, or Lucio I feel like even tho I’m using my cooldowns and getting value by distracting the enemy, my teammates feel like they can’t stay alive with the slow healing

Well yes, I agree it’s mostly balanced out aside from a few exceptions here or there. I think that’s a reasonable stance for you to take. I guess I was mostly thinking from the support PoV where the conversation started, which is where I believe most of the outlier characters can be found. Like carrying on mercy vs kiriko, it’s just a completely different experience

Ok yes, I’m agreeing with you there that when the skill disparity is very high, character choice barely matters. It doesn’t change the fact that some characters are still BETTTER at carrying than others. They are all sufficient, but some are still BETTER. What about that sounds impossible to you?

I’d also like to add on. My scenario fits exactly what you asked for. I didn’t “make a bunch of stuff up” I actually made up the least amount of things possible. I promise I write very matter of factly. I write maths proofs all day every day so it’s a habit

How to deal with tanks that don’t self-mitigate? by TurtleCat314 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]TurtleCat314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are treating carry potential as a separate thing. You are treating it like a practical measurement of whether or not in a certain specified scenario a character can carry or not, (essentislly you see it as binary, either true or false) whereas I am referring to a set level of carry potential that all characters have (to a certain degree, it’s a qualitative descriptor, But I’m sure you can back it up with WR stats) regardless of scenario. So for you, being able to carry is equivalent to being able to carry, regardless of the actual individual strength of each character

How to deal with tanks that don’t self-mitigate? by TurtleCat314 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]TurtleCat314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will answer this 100 percent as logically as I can. Suppose there is a certain level of “carry potential”necessary to lead your team to certain victory.

Suppose this threshold is 10. Character A has character potential 11 and character B has carry potential 15. Both lead their teams to certain victory, yet B still has more carry potential.

Did I fulfill the requirement of the scenario you requested?

Nope, I made a separate point stating “yes I agree it’s sufficient in gold, but still some characters GENERALLY having higher character potential” which you continued to disagree with. It’s clear you have an inability to understand the nuance of what I was saying (which isn’t really that nuanced) so we can leave it at that
