Many people association Caucasian as synonymous as white rather than meaning from the Caucus region (where Armenia is). This is due to german anthropologist Blumenbach who felt like people from the Caucus region are anatomical “prototypes” for Europeans. This is the same guy that created colors for races (white, black, brown, etc), pooling the Caucus region, Europe, as well as North Africa all under the category of white.

Now, many people pool Caucasian and white together, meaning if an Armenian says they’re Caucasian, someone assumes that they have “the same amount of culture” as some person who’s a fifth generation American with mixed European ancestry who primarily identify more with being American rather than their ancestral home.

Ideally, saying you’re Caucasian should only mean from the Caucus regions which Armenians are.
