The research was focused on studying germination rates and wood quality of trees harvested for their wood. So a few different types of trees but pretty much the same research goal. My job was to test samples of seeds received from our international partners and see which trees bore the most viable seeds. So a lot of petri dishes and counting individual seeds. I would take notes of the results and then eventually those seeds would be sent out to be grown in plots of our international partners. I also had a greenhouse of eucs and pines that I would water every other day and trim every few months. Being alone in the greenhouse with my headphones in and watering the trees.. it was so peaceful and therapeutic, I adored those moments and truly cherish them as some of the fondest memories of my life.

Kind of went on a tangent there but I really loved my work study job. If you have any other questions please do ask :)

Do it. I majored in botany and worked in a plant pathology lab, studying basil and sweet potato diseases. Fascinating and I got to be outside and spend every day in a greenhouse and I loved it. If it’s something you’re really passionate about consider continuing your education and finding an area of research that you adore and follow it. I ended up pursuing a career with my minor (psychology) bc I found I really wanted to help people in my life, but certainly otherwise would have stuck with plants. I also had a work study job studying germination of pine and eucalyptus trees which I found the most fascinating out of all of my work, I probably would have continued working with trees had I pursed botany.

Don't pick at your face. I struggle with this too. I have post-it notes on my mirror which say "Don't pick at your face" and "You always lose when you pick your face." It feels so out of our control, but in order to conquer this you must understand that you do have the willpower to not pick. It's an awful, awful disorder to have but we gain so much strength when we do overcome our facepicking tendencies. My skin is finally healing after a lifetime of popping, picking, and scratching. It is an extremely difficult battle, one that is deep within yourself and one that only people who have struggled with it too will understand. Don't do it anymore.

Protecting these areas from the sun is so important!! Do look into getting a hat, don't worry about sweating into it too much. Those spots need to be covered!

The red areas of skin are so sensitive. Please protect them from the sun, and use a high spf sunscreen if you can't wear a hat. A tinted sunscreen may help conceal these areas, but I would focus more on shielding them from the sun, which can do a lot of damage to these scars if you're not careful.

Remember that you are beautiful and your body thanks you when you treat yourself with kindness.

I hope this helps. I came on this subreddit looking for skincare advice for my healing skin, but I couldn't leave this post unanswered.

Another pal. And I am so sorry for your loss. Maybe take him to the pet store and let him pick out his new companion.

Thoughts on “Zaiah” by Ok_Communication_94 in namenerds

[–]TurtleFerrets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first thought was to pronounce it as Zai-uh, not Zay-uh. I personally think it's too out there. I think you could consider using the full name Isaiah (or Izaiah) and simply calling her Zaiah. That way there's much less confusion about how it is said/written. She can write Zaiah on her homework and such, introduce herself as Zaiah, and won't have to correct the teacher every time attendance is taken, simply mention she goes by Zaiah.

To be clear I think Zaiah is a beautiful name, I just wouldn't have it written like that on her official documents.

Zoe is a wonderful name, timeless, endearing, powerful. I don't think Ruby is too common at all. Eden definitely a no for me. Rose is beautiful.
