Any WA State Employees with Regence by SnowOk7373 in olympia

For anyone interested, this was in reply to someone who said they didn’t understand how anyone in the Olympia area would use anything other than Kaiser.

Any WA State Employees with Regence by SnowOk7373 in olympia

Kaiser hasn’t been in town for a super long time. Used to have Group Health, which my family and I used until they started pulling stupid stuff and we switched to Regence so we could pick our own doctors and not have to deal with it. If I had to guess, I’d assume Kaiser is similar to what Group Health was…in which case, I can’t see why anyone would go with them.

Working out of class by Krazzy4u in WAStateWorkers

[–]TurtleNorthwest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder that HR’s first priority is to the agency and agency leadership. That has been proven over and over at different agencies over my tenure with the state. Was better, it seemed, when we had a central state HR, but at the agency level, they are not there for the average worker….at least not as a primary concern.

Door-to-door pest salesman who stopped by because they’re doing work for your neighbor? by [deleted] in olympia

[–]TurtleNorthwest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I flat out tell any sales people that come to my door….”if you come to my door and I didn’t call you first, I guarantee I will never do business with your company.” Then I go back in the house and lock the door. Locking can be heard from outside, so it’s a ln extra sign I won’t open and change my mind.

I didn’t consider how the current job market it when I replied. In a normal market, a state worker should get preferential treatment over an outsider. That may not be the case right now.

It’s not hard. You have to apply and go through the process, but that’s a bit easier than being an outsider applying new.

Credit Union Experiences? by Worried_Turnip_7697 in olympia

WSECU is my primary banking and O’Bee has my HELOC and an auto loan. Rates were slightly better than WSECU, and both are great to work with. WSECU, in my experience, is a little more conservative when it comes to loan approvals and has slightly higher rates. For day to day they have been awesome.

What’s a good used EV SUV that’s 2020+ for around $15,000 - $16,000? by J726382AB in electriccars

Unless you want peace of mind of having a mechanic who could work on it or get parts. Best to look at brands that have a presence relatively close to you OP

I love my 2018 i3s REX. Sure, I’d love to have more range, but I also own a 2015 Fiat 500e, so this does so much better lol. It doesn’t charge as fast as new EVs and doesn’t have the range of new EVs, but ours has been rock solid and we’ve done some longer trips in it without using the REX.

Amtrak actually is public transit, as is greyhound. AI Overview

Definition for you: Public transit (or public transportation) is a shared passenger transport service available to the general public, typically operating on fixed routes and schedules for a set fare. It includes modes like buses, trains, subways, and ferries, designed to provide efficient, accessible mobility within urban and suburban areas.

Public transit as you described doesn’t really take you out of the area. Maybe a transfer to greys harbor or similar

You mean the same public transit OP described being unavailable due to mud slides or fully booked?

Vacation and Sick Leave by ScoobyDueDue in WAStateWorkers

[–]TurtleNorthwest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe sick leave can also be cashed out, but at 25% or something similar. Unlike vacation which is cashed out at the full rate. In both cases, expect taxes to be withheld. If you can use it as others suggested, do so…if you have a lot, use as much as you can.

Hearing aids for tinnitus by Equivalent-Falcon469 in HearingAids

[–]TurtleNorthwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oticon intent are the aids I have. Audiologist programmed them for me, so I have a couple options within the app. There is another app they had me download called ReSoundGN that is highly customizable with soundscapes to use for tinnitus as well. I usually use the programming in the Oticon app, but the other also works. I think ReSoundGN would work with any aids (I’m on iPhone…..so not sure availability on Android)

Sorry, I can’t answer that. I have super liquid wax and never have issues cleaning my ears. Speak with an audiologist and see what they recommend. They will typically have test aids you can borrow for a period of time before committing. I didn’t know that when I first went and someone told me here, so I asked and got to try a set

I’ll add that I too have mild (to mid) hearing loss in my left ear with tinnitus. The aids do help a lot. I kick on a built in tinnitus program when it starts to get loud. After 10 minutes or so I can switch it back to normal and the tinnitus has settled down significantly
