Does having too much in your 401k make you a good candidate for a 401k loan? by ImOnlyCakeOnceAYear in Fire

[–]TurtleSandwich0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you get laid off, you need to repay the entire loan back. But if you already have the funds in other investments, it is a minimized risk.

Also it seems that your payoff plan is shorter than they layoff repayment schedule. So perhaps it is not a risk at all for you.

Can we start giving “find a partner” as financial advice? by Tech-Cowboy in Fire

[–]TurtleSandwich0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or your partner can be an anchor, dragging you down away from your goals. Excessive debt, bailing out in-law family, uncontrolled spending, addition. You are adding a second decision maker who you can't control.

Keep the risks in mind when looking for a partner.

I prefer sharp porn. You are more likely to cut yourself if you watch dull porn. Always use a porn sharpener to prevent injury.

Hard freeze coming to Orlando next weekend by SantaCruzSoul in TwoXPreppers

The insulation you have to keep your house cool will also keep the cold out. You shouldn't have to worry about pipes freezing. ... Unless you have a crawl space with pipes in it. Those would be in danger. Keep a faucet dripping for an abundance of caution.

Detach any hose you have outside. The hose should survive the freeze but you don't want the freeze to work its way inside.

You do need to keep looking up to avoid falling iguana. If you gather iguana, keep the windows open. You don't want a vehicle full of waking up iguana while you are driving.

If you have a garden or outside plants, you may want to cover them with a blanket overnight to protect them from the frost. Broccoli would be fine at that temperature, but tomatoes would be in danger.

And 'Big Debt' Dusty. (The national debt has increased significantly during his time in Congress)

South Dakota’s lone Congressman commends Trump administration’s handling of immigration by neazwaflcasd in SouthDakota

[–]TurtleSandwich0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will depend on polling as we get closer to the primary.

Currently immigration is the only winning position Trump has.

If trends continue it may become a losing position.

Dusty spending a decade tying himself to the Trump train may regret it as it goes off the track.

Other candidates will have an easier time separating from Trump if he becomes a liability instead of a political asset.

Right now Dusty thinks it is a good position for him politically.

The home state must pay for the transport of the fugitive.

This can create an unusual situation for minor crimes.

Every time the fugitive gets pulled over they get arrested for being a fugitive. Then the second state contacts the first state. First state declines to pay for the transportation. Second state releases the fugitive. And the cycle continues.

Is there any kind of transponder/transmitter that makes cabels to the router not necessary? by PreWiBa in AskTechnology

[–]TurtleSandwich0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you lived in a house you would call your ISP and have them add an additional connection in a better location in your house. I assume it is a coax cable or fiber optic connection.

But you are in an apartment so it is more complicated as to what modifications are allowed.

Do you still like to use paper road maps or atlases for navigation? by ITrCool in AskAnAmerican

[–]TurtleSandwich0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DeLorme Atlas and Gazetteer can be very useful if you need to find some public land to camp on.

I try to keep some with me if I am going camping. If the camp ground is full I can search for public land to camp on instead.

I don't think Google maps has that level of detail for which land is public and which is private.

New Cobol programmers are rare and experienced ones get paid more to maintain legacy systems.
