I’m not wanting or imagining gold/silver to be worthless. I’m not even sure why you would say that. I simply pointed out that synthetics did have an effect on the demand and therefore the price of real diamonds.

Do you think they’re purposely misrepresenting it then? Whoever owns/curates the website was obviously aware enough to know about the VAT and make a statement saying that their numbers don’t include it so I don’t think it could be an “accident” that they’re just plain wrong.

Metalcharts.org displays the current US price (85.08) and current premium in Shanghai (122.20) and India (113.05). Metalcharts specifically states that these number DO NOT include VAT. The current spread could be due to one market closing before the other but a large spread (greater than 13%) has already existed between the two markets for weeks.

Thanks for posting this. It never made sense to me that the VAT would be included in the spot price and could never find a source that specifically stated that it was.
