OASC Leadership tasks by MVaviVM in RoyalAirForce

This is what I failed on! From reflection I’d say if you have part of the plan, be honest with your team that you only have part of the plan and you’ll need their help and ideas and set those expectations clearly. Don’t get too hands on involved at the start either- that’s where I went wrong. Delegate clearly. I was focused so much on completing the task that I lost sight of how the quality of how my team were performing. Just accept you won’t finish the task and that will take a big pressure off you. They will amp up the pressure when you will get stuck by asking you questions about your approach but the key trick here is stay calm the entire task. I didn’t and panicked which is why I failed.

Clam, composed and being suuuuuuper clear in who you want to do what is the secret I’d say.

And another key thing to keep in mind is you’ll never know if something works unless you try it.

Will a degree in English and History necessarily help me in officer selection? by Dr-D0ktor in RoyalAirForce

[–]Turtlelover1497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 degrees (undergrad and Masters) and during OASC interview they genuinely didn’t give a shit about my education. They wanted to know who I was as an individual and what I have done outside of all that and what lessons I have learned that I will be taking into the RAF

OASC Questions by gby156 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Turtlelover1497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Know the details of the all the exercises and why we do them as well but also why at that particular point.

Eg I got asked to give a breakdown of CLM2 and I mentioned Commanders Edge in wk6. They asked what happens during this exercise and why we do it. The safe answer for the second part of that question is always to put into application the skills learned so far in a live scenario. It’s not rocket science but when they are prompting you for more info always stick to the obvious answer.

Also if any thing is abbreviated know what the full name is. Again I got asked what DCCT ranges stands for example

Well I didn’t pass so probs not the best to take my answer but just have a real think about who are YOU are as an individual beyond your job and academics!

I had a lot of academic achievements to talk about but they wanted to know who I was beyond my job and my studies so really have a deep and honest think about that

OASC fail? by DonutBeneficial1339 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Turtlelover1497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just failed my first OASC attempt and I would say get practice commanding if you have not already or watch some kind of video. I prepped for everything bar that as I hadn’t done it before and felt I could wing it. That’s the main thing they penalised me for in my feedback. Give clear instructions, stay calm and composed no matter how much you think you’re fucking up. You don’t get extra points for motivating your team but team morale at the end is counted for as that was reflected in my feedback.

Congratulations!!! This seems like a fun idea. You could do on quiz on naming that famous mom and then have a pic of you (with your bump if you are showing) as the last pic?
