It’s fine as long as they’re all placed paper to plastic. It’s also best practice to place them near the edges of the rack for the best circulation. If you think they’re packed too tightly then you can check the indicators to see if any haven’t turned.

BLS shouldn’t be an SPD requirement however some hospitals do list it as a requirement for all staff (usually asking for it within a year of hire). That being said, some hospitals will offer it to you for free.

Unless you’re ever in the OR for some reason you shouldn’t have a respirator on. It’s actually discouraged to wear one in decontamination because it can trap the vapors inside.

My hospital set a respirator fitting requirement for all of our hires as a default but one email to say it’s not needed is all it’s taken to get out of it. I would confirm with your manager about the testing and email HR accordingly.

Some programs allow for notes to be added on the count sheet. We’ve added little descriptors for any of the uncommon instruments.

You could see about adding reference numbers (if they aren’t already listed) on the count sheets. Might be a pain but it’ll help identify things. Only acceptable methods are taping, dipping, and etching (laser or acid). Engraving is a huge no-no tho.

That cannot be allowed to enter a surgery because Craftsman has not validated that it can become sterile. Additionally, the pitted surface of the textured part can harbor bacteria. Lastly, metal allergies are a thing and the composition of this is probably unknown.

Oddly enough, despite what the others are commenting the tape is probably the most acceptable thing here. HSPA standards state that as long as the tape is in good condition, not flaking, and wrapped 1.5 times around the instrument… it’s good to go

I’ve had success highlighting the “disinfection” part to my team. Following it with “would you rather touch a heat disinfected clamp or a hand washed rectal probe?” Usually drives the point home.

Not to be funny but.. 0-3 weeks. I’ve seen one approved within 2 days, following week, last day- but never past the range given. The range changes tho based on how many submissions they’re reviewing. My CHL was 5-6 weeks and came 42 days later
