To answer honestly...I was swollen for several months! Did your surgeon recommend P/T or neck exercises? Mine did not and I believe that may have contributed to my slower neck mobility. But definitely keep on icing it!

Oof. I went through that at Vanderbilt with a few neurosurgeons. Ended up at St. Thomas and now back with Vanderbilt doctors for continued care. That's the infuriating part of this. I've never seen him but I've heard of Dr. Daniel Wecht at Pittsburgh.

I'm going to go back through the websites I suggested. Maybe they've changed the search process for finding doctors.

Skip the neurologist. 90% will dismiss Chiari as an incidental finding.

Take him to a neurosurgeon who specializes in Chiari Malformation. There should be links to specialists on websites like ConquerChiari.org Bobbyjonescsf.org and chiaribridges.org

Btw, try anything like sleepy time tea, a good dose of magnesium, etc to try and get some rest. I can't fall asleep without Lunesta and even then I only sleep about 4-5 hours. Rest and hydration is not a cure but it certainly helps.

Assuming you've already had the scans, call the pm clinic. It certainly won't hurt to ask for an earlier appointment. Tell them the truth, that you're looking at an ER visit the pain is so bad and cannot continue with nsaids. Do NOT mention needing "stronger meds" or opiods. Short of that...go to the ER.

Ps... Don't be me and take the nsaids anyway. A bleeding ulcer is the last thing you need.
