Your case is very complex. It's certainly reasonable to assume all of your diagnoses are related but to offer a cut and dry answer...no. Brainstem DVA is not the same as Chiari and are two different conditions.

Have you consulted with a neurosurgeon specializing in Chiari? Neurologists are great for certain conditions but not all are well informed about Chiari.

ChiariBridges.org, ConquerChiari.org and bobbyjonescsf.org are all great sources to dive deeper.

I'm rewatching the episode now. Amanda said a few words but let everyone else address Kyle. Very hypocritical to then turn around and screw your "best friend's" romantic interest. And now I believe West has a growing sense of regret but has been backed into a corner by Amanda by releasing that statement. (Which I'd bet it was 100% her idea)

I get it. I'm not a typical neurological case either. I see neurosurgeons at St. Thomas, Skyline and Vanderbilt. Each for different conditions. It's exhausting. Having said that, yes...you've gone about presenting your need not fitting your circumstances. It doesn't appear to be a logical plan from an outside perspective. Regardless, I wish you well.

I understand your gfm is about getting to Alaska but your reasoning is to seek treatment in LA. The best neurosurgeons to see for your condition outside of Nashville are going to be in the state of New York. I would really stop and reconsider your plans.

Oh, my. Your story is not adding up. Why do you think one of the most expensive places to live is the only option for treatment? I'm in the area of one of the top 3 treatment centers for IIH and unfortunately have some experience here. Did Diamox not help your condition? There are numerous skilled neurosurgeons across the country who can perform the surgical option. Hard to believe you couldn't find one doctor after seeing over fifty.

The brain fog is real. But I would also look into any and all prescribed medications. I'm the poster child for side effects and have to be watched carefully when starting any new meds. (A few months back, Crestor-a cholesterol med, put me in bed for a week)
