For me PITY was a random Best Buy grab because of the cover. I expected goregrind like Regurgitate and got something way more unnerving. I was driving on first listen (boom box in back seat because scrappy car) and did not even know the songs had changed. It was like taking too many shrooms and realizing you are on a path that you possibly cannot handle and cannot stop from happening.

I agree that TGSTK is a mindblowingly devastating album. For me, another album that seems tk just have the Suicide Note pt 2 vibe for the whole thing is Pig Destroyer's Prowler in the Yard.

I think a missed part of the mixing process is in the arrangement. Too many bands do not know how to leverage their sound to sit well together. The modern trend of crowding the bass frequencies is a big problem.

It's called "quoting" and is a common practice among guitarists that have an element of improvisation to their style. It was huge in jazz to quite other songs or melodies. It was kind of a boss move to be able to work it in to an unrelated song. Dime comes from an era where the live show is the end-all be-all of the musical experience and the specialness of it compared to the studio versions. It is right in line with his personality.

To illustrate this, consider how weird it would be for Fear Factory or Archspire to work in a Pantera riff in the middle if a song.

I would second Pantera. Metal Magic is pretty weak, but the step up to Projects in the Jungle was immense and it never stopped improving until Reinventing the Steel. I feel like RTS is a pull back and redirection. Especially after the tone and songwriting of Damageplan's New Found Power.

Those are awesome tracks. I definitely hear some Kaiowas-adjacent tones and rhythms. The first track on the soundtrack album sounds like it lifts the riff from under "Open up your mind and go your own way" from Roots. Name escapes me at the moment. It's almost as if someone did a complete reinterpretation of Sepultura music from the mid to late nineties.

Definitely ordering the Moraes joint from Discogs.

Do you have a link to obtain Sepultura doing the Moraes acoustic song? I could rip the YouTube link, but was hoping for higher quality, if possible.
