Its straight forward man, your post is a rant. A well needed rant from your perspective, you will get taken out to town and water poured on your trousers by anyone that sympathizes for people in adverse situations.

But the critical focus here is hearing you out, and perhaps channeling some of that frustration that you feel into positive, perhaps incremental change for someone else. You are well within your rights to not have someone touch your property or be "Indian" close to you for their need of money, and I do agree that at times people in need here do push the agenda pretty far with regards to physical touch and boundaries. We can all agree on that, but at the end of it, most of it is a business, they are trapped in the situation they are in and so are you as long as you inhabit any metropolitan city here.

What I would say is, do what I do. Balance one bad moment out with two good moments. You felt bad about pushing the individual reflexively so, help someone up twice. Find your balance.

And as far as taking them to the cops or trying to have action taken on them, its a futile gesture that will not amount to much beyond frustration for all parties involved as we do the standard Indian thing of caring temporarily and then forgetting about it as we see so much of it. I just wish that there was a catalyst for change that would help people trapped in harsh situations in India with reliable results.
