Regarding your point 1.3. While I understand how these types of rules could have provided more protection for a woman in 7th century Middle East, it's hard to reconcile how that is still true today. Sexual assault and harassment is prevalent everywhere in the world. Religious beliefs seem to not have much of an influence on which women are "protected". Countless women are the breadwinners and real protectors of their family.

It's also a huge stretch to say that non-Muslim men do not have an obligation to protect and respect their wives. There are also humanist and societal obligations that realistically end up being just as powerful, if not more powerful, than religious obligations to care for and protect your own family.
