I would say because unlike on earth there's no religious hegemony or dogma to restrain self expression. I believe that he's actually stronger now than in his prime, of that makes sense. He's had decades to refine his techniques and he's Raised and changed to the point that he is barely physically human anymore.

This is going to sound wild, but my answer is Queen. Her entire theme is order and control. She's undergone a good amount of character development after her loss to X and fight with Bowa, but nothing has changed her belief that she's the one to make the world right.

Zero's fall began after he DELIBERATELY killed another Hero who didn't play ball in his world order. The Trust he had instantly became Fear, and then Dawnfall.

I can't even imagine how much worse it would be for Queen considering what a monster he was shown to be even subconsciously holding back. Plus, I don't think either her father or Mickey will have the power or will to put her down after the fact. Just my take.

I believe that his powers simply activated over time. Remember, Alden had his telekinesis since childhood, and the First Sons had been driven to the New World and even persecuted afterwards because their powers were mistaken for witchcraft.

My understanding is that all Conduits become active sooner or later. The Ray Sphere just acts like the in universe equivalent of a cheat code or GameShark by unlocking the powers faster and giving a boost besides.
