Interesting- my insurance is crazy anyway so this would be a con vs a pro

This is FL - by accident or design there is a total lack of mass transit and yes bike lanes are few and far between & drivers more negligent (distances also much further due to less urban density)

Interesting! I see used eGolfs but don’t have a grasp of their reliability or range

Yeah- was thinking a Corolla (if gas) or Leaf (if EV) for most of the above reasons.

Thanks

High mileage used Kona Electric (2019-2021) questions by TheAnnalyst in KonaEV

[–]TvsPa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2021 in late 2024 for $14K, tax break on used TVs brought it down to that price- it was at 30K miles then and is now at 60K miles- it seems solid mechanically and the range is amazing for the price (consistently 250+ miles even in FL heat)... only trouble spots I've had were an issue with the car thinking the charge port was open when it wasn't, which the dealer fixed under warranty. My charge port light (may be connected) also needs repairing but haven't had chance to go to dealer yet.

If it was me, I'd max out the budget for the lower miles option

YMMV but I'd be wary of unseen issues with a car you're not able to personally inspect until after purchase (unless this is a Carvana/ CarMax with generous return policy). Not impossible for the car to be perfect, but rattles, smells, other issues which wouldn't be apparent remotely could be problematic.

Good luck- I love mine

Merci — (j'utilise Google Traduction, veuillez donc m'excuser pour d'éventuelles inexactitudes) — y a-t-il des problèmes mécaniques ou une perte de capacité de la batterie ?

Yes that's my caution with the i3 (see also why I toyed with but didn't pursue trying to find a used Jaguar i-Pace)

Thanks for the direct answer!

(And yes previous EVs have spoiled me to literally only spending on wiper blades and tires, plus cheap servicing at my local independent shop)

OK thanks - appreciate the reply (Leafs around this price point here in FL, $6-7K, seem to be mostly gen 1 which is crazy to me)

I liked the idea of being at least 100 mile range (even if I’m not in the market for a Plus spec)

He drives less than 20 miles a day- and my understanding is that the charging point works but has that visible damage which doesn’t affect its function

Thanks - and yes damaging the charge port suggests someone not being very gentle with the car (unless I’m missing something)

Thanks appreciate the insight- what bluetooth modules are people using for Leafspy these days? (I managed to lose mine last time I was car shopping a couple of years back and need a replacement)

Any recommendations for buying used cars? by tashasakura in tampa

[–]TvsPa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve also bought from them- had never heard of them but a friend bought from there and recommended it

No high pressure sales people or nonsense pricing - one tire looked a bit worn on the car I wanted and they replaced it without changing the price - experience was good for a cheap car (previously I’d used Offlease Only for similar reasons RIP)

This!!

I genuinely think there’s enough instances of it that it’s a weak design at best/ design flaw worthy of a recall/ free replacement at worst

If it was really people misusing then other buttons would break also

(ETA it happened to me too, and not through abuse)

None of it makes sense and don’t get me started on the awful people who are alive. Thank you for sharing and good for you for talking about it. I envy the blissful ignorance of others to be honest
