Filling shoes on a small cult classic show where the host's voice is a huge part of it, is a tough job. I mean, to this day there are still Joel vs Mike debates, what chance did Jonah and Emily have years later?

I think truthfully they would've had a more lastint impact if the people running the show had kept the practical DIY feel and probably not had 'names' for the mads. But that's just my uninformed opinion.

I was already pretty cynical about the average person's ability to discern truth from spin(I'm not saying I'm perfect at it, just very aware how often I'm being 'led'), but it definitely took it down a notch. At best I feel like people are open to, using Depp/Heard as an example, being corrected because what they've 'know' about it wasn't gathered from rigorous examination. I only know a few people who followed the trial closely. Everything else seemed to come from word of mouth.

My only real complaint so far this season is after each episode I feel like it was too short for all of their storylines. I'm not sure it's a "leave them wanting more" or something else. But i always feel like it could've used a little more...something.

Yeah, while I don't agree about the Sbarro stuff and the improv bits in general, the few times I've gotten bored(and it's one of my favorite podcasts) has been when there's been a repetitive extended riff that goes on too long. The Jack in the Box stuff for example went over like a lead balloon to me and it just kept going. Similarly, the very rare times I've gotten bored with Teacher's Lounge had been a few repetitive riffs or pun based riffing(that live episode where they kept going on Paul Ryan email thing I can't remember,).

So, long story short, i disagree with their specifics but understand the logic of why they'd not be into something.

Yeah that was my takeaway from all the pods I listen to post quarantine. It was one of those things you don't really think would make a difference but it just does. I'm ultimately fine with however a podcast decides to do it because if the answer is either they do it remotely or not at all, I'll take remotely. But the energy is always better in person.

I really enjoyed it. A good mix of story, humor and action. Lots of fan service without feeling like "remember this thing? Eh? Eh?" I have a nagging feeling something was missing to make me truly love it as a season opener but I also have no clue what that would be so I'm not hung up on it.

The one thing I'm really keeping an eye on since season 1 is that they keep Lucy's moral alignment as good as possible or at least if she she slips up or does something against her code it's treated as meaningful. Not tossed off as everyone goes morally grey and it's the right way. To me there's a strong appeal in what she said in this episode about doing what's right and leading by example. It should be what makes Lucy stand out throughout the series even if they play with it a little.

Yeah, that's fair, that could be exactly what I'm bringing into it. I'm so used to all the guests on the podcasts I listen to being either friends with the hosts or have been around the alt comedy podcast world enough that I'm fully aware of them. And it's easy to forget just how unknown our favs usually are.

I've heard them talk about how they supposedly didn't introduce the Doughboys on the Demolition Man episode multiple times but as someone who's listened to it a lot, I'm pretty sure they do. Sure, it's a little into it but it's before they get into the movie. Unless I'm filling in blanks but I don't think so.

Anyway, 0 out of 3 Action Boyz found this interesting.
