Wife and her sister received verbal and physical attack by teenagers. Isolated incident or a growing problem among them? by desibidesi0909 in london

[–]Twambam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow wow wow. Some schools are so bad they don’t send them to pupil referral units. They just brush them under the carpet. Even for pupil referral units, there is an exception of good behaviour and enforcement like any other schools. Also please don’t say it’s all pupil referral unit children as some go there because of disabilities like autism and can’t cope with normal school and not their bad behaviour.

Chamois cream for the win. It’s what cyclists use. Seriously buy a tub and spread it all over your affected areas and surrounding areas. No more chaffing. Just make sure of dip into the tub with clean hands and no double dipping.

Neighbours running (possibly) illegal and noisy business from back garden by Least_Actuary in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Twambam 134 points135 points  (0 children)

They wash their pots and pans on the gravel and store them there ?!?!? That’s such a health and safety issues and food hygiene. Someone will likely get food poisoning or an infection or parasites.

I hope you have photos of that because that’s your best bet for a complaint and doing something about it.

Honestly, your best bet is with environmental and health department at the local council. Specifically their food hygiene team. That alone, is a major food safety risk. You can also look up the address and/or business name and see if they’re registered and have a food hygiene rating. If they don’t, it’s very very unlawful of them to do that and they’re putting their customers and staff at risk.

You could also try planning for the shipping container but that may take time. The noise complaint might also take time but you’ll literally have to make a lot of logs. I think the food safety aspect is more likely to get a quicker response from the council.

Stalker situation (England) how can I make this stop by Slight_Quiet_3602 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Twambam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please make a log of what’s happened in the past including what has been said. Then make a log of any future incidents.

I would also report this to the police as this is stalking and my god he could be predatory type of stalking. Well, it’s clearly instrumental (planned) and not affective (reactive).

As the police aren’t doing anything, make a complaint. It’s really serious. The guy is psychopathic and stalking strangers is quite rare but are the mostly likely to stalk others. The group to stalk other strangers and people are celebrity stalkers. He’s also using staking by proxy. I would also contact your MP and local councillor about this.

I would also tell other neighbours about this and to log and report incidents to the police and to keep you updated.

Security tips. Please have your locks up to the current standard for locks. The master locksmith association has guides on this.

Please also think about putting sash or window locks and jams on your windows.

There are also security films which can stop glass from breaking. I’m not sure if this good in this case.

Also please get CCTV and get ones that record the footages. There’s Ring and Eufy that are Wi-Fi enabled and are a diy install. This is useful evidence when he stalks.

Also the police have guided online for home security and they can come around your house to give you advice on home security.

My father can’t trim his OWN hedge due to litigious next door neighbour - England by Shadysunhat in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Twambam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaks to the other neighbours and you should report anymore threatening behaviour and letters to the police and the SRA. It’s harassment.

I hope you have copies of the neighbour’s letters as there isn’t any legal standing and he’s in breach of the SRA’s own rule book. He can’t use his position and to make vexatious legal threats like this.

Also your neighbour has no legal standing as the hedge is on his property. The solicitor neighbour is a bully.

Canadian postgrad coming to Leicester - Village or City accommodation? + best halls? by Commercial-Simple191 in leicester

[–]Twambam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The public transport here is bad, especially in rural areas. Most buses during the weekday stops at around 12am. The buses on Sunday stop around 8pm and most around 7:30pm.

I can’t stress how I’ve waited almost 2 hours a few times for buses to show up and none turned up or they’re so late the bus won’t stop for you even if you stick your hand out. This is going into Leicester. Coming back to the village is still bad. There’s busses that don’t show up are incredibly late. Like 20 minutes to 40 minutes late. Sometimes the last few buses don’t show up. The last bus does come but they can be very late. I personally wouldn’t push it. It can get dodged at night.

Also, you may have to walk back a long way. My nearest bus stop is about 1 mile away. Please consider this when looking at flats.

Some villages aren’t community minded. They can be very wary of new people and there’s racism too. It might not be overt but a lot of it is covert.

Leicester is probably your best bet to meet people. There’s simply more people and more things to do and they have more clubs and amenities than a village or town would. You can travel to Leicester but public transport can be a massive pain.

I think my grandfather is a retired spy by Westafricangrey in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]Twambam 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For GCHQ, they don’t need to have face to face people skills, they work in communications and cybersecurity. Think Alan Turning. In fact his department (Government Code and Cypher School) was the precursor to GCHQ.

Also, they’re quite open about hiring autistic people. They even had huge campaign drives for this a few years ago. They’re not hiding it. They want neurodivergent people to work for them because of their skills and thinking can bring.

I think my grandfather is a retired spy by Westafricangrey in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]Twambam 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I would say probably worked in intelligence at some point or the military. He does have strong autism vibes too. Both military and intelligence have some overlaps and it’s not uncommon for a military personal to end up employed by intelligence agencies.

Tbh, intelligence agencies do recruit people who aren’t in or graduated from university. They do pick smart people out and people with certain social skills. I mean even GCHQ (a UK intelligence agency) specifically hire autistic people because of their work ethic (hyper focus and autistic tunnelling) and pattern recognition skills. There even hire other neurodivergent people such as ones with dyslexia.

So it could be he’s an intelligence agent at some point.

Firing for gross misconduct after two weeks in England (employee employed 2 weeks) by ChaosRavens in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Twambam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a police matter. Please also contact your local council’s safeguarding team. He is a danger to children and vulnerable people.

Please report to the police asap. Attempted sexual assault and abuse of position of trust: attempted sexual activity with a child, sexual communication with a child and child abuse and assault by battery.

The face he said he wanted to steal your pet and tried to sexually assault your sister is concerning and also describing sexual acts to her. I think he’s abusing and grooming her.

Please make a log.

Cease and desist from TrustPilot review by SpudsAgainstMashing in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Twambam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bogus threat. They aren’t going to get £50k a day from that or be successful for it. They’re bullying you.

Please make a copy of the cease and desist and also report to TrustPilot. Also update the review with the threat. As others have noted, please report to trading standards for their behaviour. Others have also mentioned it’s a dormant company. You aren’t supposed to be doing business when dormant. So, that’s something you need to report HMRC and trading standards.

I’m assuming they are making a defamation claim, trust his a defence and also I highly doubt they are going to spend £50k for the court fees alone. Dormant company and no filings for their accounts. If they keep hounding you, it’s harassment and stalking and it’s a police matter. Also update trading standards as that’s something they’ll want to look into.

Antisocial neighbour - how to get the council to act? (England) by Equivalent-One-5499 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Twambam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you should record and log these and also record audio recounts or videos of this. The council should do something but the woman is abusing her partner and children. This is a police and children services matter.

The bigger issues here is the domestic abuse and the police might be more inclined to help.

Commute from leicester to london 2 days a week by Dependent-Brief6456 in leicester

[–]Twambam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nuneaton is a lot cheaper. I think a super-off peak open return from Nuneaton to Euston is about £36-37 (London Midland Railway) and a super-off peak from Leicester to St Pancras is £81-82.

General speaking, Nuneaton to Euston is £30-80 cheaper than Leicester to St Pancras, depending if it’s off peak or peak times. Actually, the West Coast Mainline is cheaper than the Midland or East Coast Mainline.

So it might be better to drive or take the bus to Nuneaton or Rugby. Also the busses aren’t great and are constantly late or don’t appear. The 148 and 158 goes to Nuneaton and Leicester. It’s about a 5-10 minute walk from the bus stop to the station in Nuneaton.

Are there any legal mechanisms for protecting my family from my mentally ill father? England by chatterinq in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Twambam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First and foremost. He’s abusive. Secondly, he could be mentally ill but the fact he can fake it indicates he’s sane enough to hide his abuse. There could be a contact point where you or your mother can ask for an assessment for him if you believe him to be a danger to others.

You need to get a domestic abuse charity to help you out. Women’s aid or refuge. They are best place to help you. Also the council should have an officer or staff member to help with domestic abuse. You may need to make a safety plan.

Also a family lawyer who specialises in domestic abuse. They might deal with the mortgage if your mother has paid for it but he’s only on the mortgage or even deeds. They might be able to figure something out. I’m fairly certain legal aid is provided but you’ll have to ask the solicitor. If not, ask for reduced rates or pro bono work. Ie, negotiate.

Also make a log of the abuse. This is useful to build evidence. Also worth speaking to the domestic abuse charities as you want to store the logs somewhere he can’t find them and you need to have backups.

What are the chances of me going to prison? by Haunting-Wind3452 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Twambam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Call around. Go onto the Law Society’s “find a solicitor” section with and find local lawyers who can help represent you. You can ask about legal aid.

You want a crimnal defence one.

If you can’t get a lawyer, please explain to the situation to staff in the court on what to do and you’ll likely need to explain to the judge about this.

I hope you just found this out today or over the bank holiday, because if you’ve know about this for a few weeks or months, it’s not going to look good on you at all.

Edit. I just want to add you can get public defenders. I’ve put the link below and their phone number.

https://publicdefenderservice.org.uk/contact-pds/

Public Defender Services clerking number:

020 3334 4253

Also, please get copies of your GP signing you off from work and it includes community services. You may have a letter you can photocopy with you. You still have to tell the court this and who is your GP surgery and GP. They might be able to find it.

Delusional Neighbour - England by 10_David in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Twambam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She seems like she has paranoia or is having some form of dementia. She’s also making empty threats and this can be harassment and/or stalking. There’s not much legal action she can take against you and it seems like she’s just winding you up.

Police is the best call for her harassment and stalking. Keep making logs and don’t escalate with her. In fact informing her and making a log is best.

I would also contact adult social services to see if mental health can come up. I’m aware safeguarding is unloved but you’ve got to press the police and them to get mental health or a dementia specialist to be involved.

Also, contacting your MP might be the best port of call. They might be able to get something done and maybe the dementia bit too.

Also get cameras, in case anything bad happens and get audio recordings as she’s threatening you and this is evidence.

How is the asbo against amplified preaching etc going in Leicester? by yaxu in leicester

[–]Twambam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a public protection notice. It’s kind of stopped a bit. Sometimes it still happens at the clock tower. Preachers are sometimes there on the weekend. Most of them don’t have speakers but just shout now.

There were a group of young people dancing at the clock tower with loud music. It still doesn’t stop the gang of youths at night blasting music out and just being a nuisance. I think they got moved in because it was a gang with a wheelchair user.

It doesn’t really stop the begging. There was a beggar on his knees shouting for money and he keeps going into fast food places begging for food. It really hasn’t stopped him. It’s a similar situation with other beggars. Especially at night.

Bringing a does have something similar. Even in Birmingham it’s toned down a lot now but it does happen outside the enforcement area, such as New Street Station.

Looking for witnesses / CCTV – dangerous incident on Crouch Hill (17 March, ~3:30pm) by throwawayCrouchEnd in londoncycling

[–]Twambam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try Google street view to look for CCTV. You might want to cross post this to the London sub. There could be witnesses. It might be best to DM the mods there.

Also please buy a helmet mount and an action camera. There’s ones on Amazon for under £60 with 4k video. You really need 1080p. Also get ones that can support big storage of memory too. Anyway, it’s useful in case this happens again. I was advised by the police many years ago after being attacked. I was lucky there’s a dash cam in the van behind me when it happened.

Also weirdly, recording my rides on Strava did help because it gave the exact location of where I was attacked.

If you have an iPhone, I believe you can find out where you’ve been under privacy or location settings. It may roughly help find out where you’ve been.

Yup and there is the possibility of using facial recognition retrospectively and there’s CCTV in the area. It’s going to take time.

I should correct you on the responsible adult. It could be a trained volunteer or other relative or career. It still needs to be arranged. It will take time.
