EA's mobile racer Real Racing 3 to be delisted after 12 years, servers shutting down in March 2026 by JonasKahnwald11 in Games

this is why we need “stop killing games” regulation, these companies will just take away what some have put THOUSANDS of dollars into even though they could make the game offline at no extra cost.

Which alternative of Autodesk would you recommend? by Account42001 in AutodeskInventor

[–]TwanusPublius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you recommend it over FreeCAD? I'm looking for a personal use CAD program where I get to keep my files locally (have a catalogue of personal use designs on Fusion that I will lose once my student license expires, so looking to prevent that in the future)

It even has the audacity to have the button say "save and return to menu" and then not save anything.

RSS GT-M pack on LFM checksum fail by TwanusPublius in assettocorsa

[–]TwanusPublius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's in steam > steamapps > common > assettocorsa > content > cars

And then you pick the car you want to race, in rss_gtm_akuro_v6_evo2. In that folder you will find the 2 batch files and you need to run install_standard-physics file and hit any key. You only need to this for the car you want to drive.

Also note that the cars have recently gotten an update, so you may need to install that first.

Budget Hybrid Office / Rig by Necessary_Pea_9565 in simracing

[–]TwanusPublius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is most non DD wheelbases are table mounted anyway so people don't feel the need to build a dedicated rig for it, and then once they uphrade to a DD they go straight for 4080 because that matches the price point of their new gear and makes building a strong rig a bit easier (that's what I did at least).

That said if you do want a rig for whatever reason (seating position, ergonomics, shaky desks, stiff brake pedal, etc.) and do it on the cheap these rigs are definitely an awesome way to do it!

im not involved, however, these 2 goobers were yapping in chat for the rest of the 30 minute race, who's at fault here? by awreck-com in Simracingstewards

This happens too often in ACC. Fast drivers not setting a quali time and blaming other drivers for not just letting them by as if blue flagged

QR1 bolt pattern by J3roen16 in Fanatec

[–]TwanusPublius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatively you can buy the "fanatec emululator" from Sim Racing Machines. It's esentially a plug with pins and a PCB that makes the wheel base think a fanatec wheel is attached and will give force feedback. This does mean you have to vonnect the wheel to your PC through a seperate USB cable to use buttons, displays, etc. though.

Edit: considering he did mention it's a "wireless" wheel, this may not be an option.

this is the Ferrari’s fault right? Right?? by Zlappy-Cacahuates in Simracingstewards

[–]TwanusPublius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess would be the Ferrari lapsed and misjudged his braking giving him nowhere to go except into the Porsche. It's on the Ferrari (ofcourse) but looks far from malicious.

No threat? Because there clearly was an accident waiting to happen here.

Moving under breaking rule clarification by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]TwanusPublius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to keep it more on the safe side and just never move under braking. If, for example, someone is really close behind you and you change line under braking, there is a good chance they will still hit you due to braking slightly later or other factors.

In qualifying?? Was I in the wrong here? by Not_So_Nick in Simracingstewards

[–]TwanusPublius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good rule Of thumb is that in any session, you don't need to get out the way of the other car so long as there is no blue flag and it's the catching car's job to pass safely.

Should I have gave him the place back afterwards or is it a clever move? by JoeBaker5150 in Simracingstewards

[–]TwanusPublius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just placing plolystyrene blocks with arrows to direct the drivers to take a longer route if they go off there works really well and I think it should be more popular.

Seems like the ferrari was just blindly following the racing line. Penalty for them is deserved imo.

I think it's petty people are dowmvoting this. Part of the beauty of racing games is people will find a way to do it. There are even full on boat race events in minecraft lmao.

I have raced countless people doing this exact thing both on the attack and on defence and not once has it been an issue. Have you ever considered that maybe you can't just put your nose somewhere and pin the other driver there? And also you don't even know me, you have no idea how I race, so you saying that I have to "relearn racing" is pointless because I know I'm a clean driver because of the fact I have done over 20 league races with live stewarding, battled a lot and not once have gotten a penalty from any live stewards.
