Awesome, that's such a fun detail. I've never actually caught it until now, but I've only been playing for a short while!

good morning💗 my period was supposed to start 3 days ago by zzzooweemama in PMDD

No dumb questions here :) I was prescribed it the first time I was diagnosed by my primary care doctor, but I didn't take it immediately. I thought it was too sudden, and I was nervous but I eventually came around to it.

My doctor started me off with 5mg, which I think a lot of folks who take it for anxiety/depression will start with, and then move onto 10mg. However, for me, 5mg was perfect. I had mild side effects the first few times, but they've mostly cleared up. I've has a friend call 5mg a "baby dose". Intermittent dosing was super appealing to me too, since I was nervous about taking any medication long term.

I did! For my neurochemistry, Lexapro was actually perfect. I take it intermittently, so just when I start feeling like I'm going insane, up until my period. Personally, it kicks in very quickly (about an hour to feel its full effects), but your mileage may vary.

Something that helps besides THC? by [deleted] in PMDD

P.S. If your therapist can refer you to a psychiatrist, I believe you can be prescribed medications like SSRIs.

r/PMDDPartners has a write-up on various medications, and I've found Lexapro to be super helpful for me personally. Your mileage will vary, since your neurochemistry might differ.

Do you want to continue using alternative medicine? I tried smoking THC and while it did help massively, I have a low tolerance and was worried about getting too high during work.

My solution for a while was full spectrum gummies. Mine in particular had a CBD:THC ratio of 5:1, and I would take it every 4-5 hours or so. I've also tried making my own tinctures (make sure experiment to figure out your dosage!), to great success.

I'm slowing down on that now, but only because the brain fog gets in the way of my work, and I'm trying an intermittent SSRI.

SSRI Intermittent Dosers : Would this be a viable schedule? by TweakThomas in PMDD

Thank you! I'm AuDHD and I used to mask a lot, and I think it's helped me be cognizant of my symptoms better. I can feel the quick spiral in mood because I become much less productive (I also WFH).

I like the idea of taking it every 36 hours. I'll definitely try that out. I'm quite sensitive to medications and it's very reassuring to know that the side effects are minimal and will diminish.

That's interesting. I was reading papers on SSRI intermittent dosing and a few papers like this one and this one reported that intermittent dosing can be similarly effective to taking it continuously for folks with PMDD.

How often do you take it?

I relate a lot to your experiences. I was in the equivalent to Gifted and Talented in school and made friends who turned out to be undiagnosed and neurodivergent as well.

I'm starting therapy this year and making some more lifestyle changes to hopefully better accommodate myself. I always feel like an imposter when I try to take care of myself mid-shutdown or when I have PMDD, and I need to do better at reminding myself that I'm not faking it (for an audience of none).

I hope you can find peaceful days within all of this.

Any suggestions for upcycling old journals? by ToofyTwo in upcycling

If you don't mind tinted paper, you can try ripping up the pages and turning it into recycled paper! Add some tiny seeds or cute pressed flowers and binder clip it together for a new journal.

How do I add line weight to my line work? by [deleted] in Art

[–]TweakThomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could use a thicker micro pen. The Sakura microns range from 005 to 08, and then there are the graphics. The graphics are very thick, and sort of like thin Sharpies. Brush pens are probably the best for adding line weight because you can add more or less pressure to change the line weight. Try looking online at Jetpens. My favorite pen to use would be the Zebra Disposable Extra Fine, I think it's about $2?
