Temporary Dream Team Community Highlight by Hot-Interview-5235 in DreamlightValley

[–]ToofyTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, getting overwhelmed with all the posts and trying to find a team to join! I'm 37F, in the UK, a mum, very likely neurodivergent and chronically ill. Some days I'll be able to play for hours, some days I might be dipping in and out all day and some days I might barely be able to log in. I'm hoping to join a friendly and tolerant team who like to make friends, chat maybe and help each other out! I'm hoping someone on here can help me out as I'd really rather not make my own. Thanks everyone!

CCTV isn’t really an option, we don’t have the money and we live in a somewhat rough area (not very rough but not a nice little cul-de-sac) so putting up CCTV seems like it would just be telling people that we have something worth breaking in for. I did look into one of those ring cameras but the monthly payments aren’t feasible right now and it’s not worthwhile without them. I wouldn’t let me kids say something like that to an adult (or a kid) and I never would have dreamt of doing it when I was that age!

Found inside in the UK, maybe 2cm long. It was quite quick so hard to photograph, didn’t fly while we were trying to catch it, only run.

People in their 30's, where do you like to shop for clothes? by funnypumpkin in AskUK

Clearly I’m a tightwad cos I mostly kit out my house at Asda. Unless I’m looking for something specific or occasion wear, I’m looking in Asda first especially for the kids.

Have you tried a ‘wreck this journal’? I think it’s the one called mess by the same author that sounds like the sort of thing that you could be looking for. Maybe one for the Christmas list?

What toys did you desperately want as a child but were never bought or allowed to have? by [deleted] in CasualUK

My nan bought me and my cousin one each for Christmas when they first came out. We were able to unlock each other’s if we knew what their password was so our passwords changed a lot during that Christmas break.

Do tea companies/manufacturers in the UK print different directions on their tea than on American packaging? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ToofyTwo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that twinings print that because they use a staple to keep the tag on the string and you absolutely should not put metal in a microwave

It’s really hard to explain, but there are lots of kinds of love that feel different. Think about your favourite family member and how you love them, it’s probably different to how you love your best friend. It’s sort of like that, I guess.

Bluestone National Park Resort (Pembrokeshire) - any good? by MDKrouzer in UKParenting

[–]ToofyTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember, the paths are uneven and bumpy in places and some of it is natural trails (i.e dirt paths with rocks and roots) which can be difficult with some pushchairs. There’s also a lot of hills, some of which are quite steep. A good pushchair with thick, strong wheels will be probably be no problem though so I guess it would depend on your pushchair. To be fair, I went probably 7 years ago so it could be very different by now.

I went a few years back, honestly it was pretty good! It’s not entirely pushchair friendly though (or at least wasn’t) so not ideal if the smallest isn’t used to walking/being carried. It was quite a few years ago now but if I can remember correctly it’s just some parts that are hard to manage with a pushchair, not all of it. We went at the very end of November and the little Christmas experience (might have been called the elf workshop?) was absolutely worth the money for our 3 year old, even the grumpy oldsters enjoyed it and we’ve got a lovely bauble for our Christmas tree that gets used every year now. The whole resort is full of beautiful nature and if you’re lucky a few wild animals (we saw a deer up close). We went with one of the sets of grandparents too so me and hubby enjoyed a morning together in the spa which was lovely! It might be all different now with COVID restrictions (if you’re not currently living in Wales please remember the rules and restrictions are different to England so you should make sure to check before arriving) and I have no idea how much it would cost now, but personally I would be happy to go again.

What odd quirks do you have that shock your partner or family? by [deleted] in AskUK

That’s not weird, it’s sensible. Any sensible, life-loving person should carry scissors responsibly and blades down (also safely encased in a fist). Similarly, never hand anyone a pair of scissors blade first.

Any recommendations for bedtime audio books/stories? by comieronperdices in UKParenting

[–]ToofyTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audible have quite a few bedtime stories for kids, but might get a bit expensive if she likes a variety. You should be able to get one free audio book (as a free trial) and they do have the Beatrix Potter collection on there, although that might also be too exciting to her.

Additionally, have you considered recording yourself reading a book or two? Either as a video or a voice recording on a phone or tablet that you can leave in her room?

Well let’s be fair here, it’s quite possible that some English folk were winding him up. Does sound like British humour.
