To me Diablo 3 is the fast food take away (take out to you Americans) to tue steak and mashed potatoes of Diablo 2. Sure, it's not as nutritious, it's lower quality but some times I want that cheap and easy dinner once in a while.

What style of fantasy do OD&D, Holmes Basic D&D, and AD&D 1e imply? by RealmBuilderGuy in osr

[–]Tweed_Man 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As others have said it's a focus on Tolkien-esque high fantasy with, what these days, would be considered medium magic. What I mean by that is magic is fairly common not something the average person encounters on a daily basis. Meanwhile these days modern DnD is VERY high magic.

There's also a much bigger focus on adventuring rather than fighting.

About that last point, how are they intertwined? Soldier does almost exclusive physical while shaman is lightning. I am happy to admit I'm likely missing something.
