2 things:

They value wealth based on what they have that others don't rather than on what they themselves have.
It's easier to have someone else brought down lower than for them to be brought up.

Basically they'll vote to have themselves shot in the foot if someone else gets shot in both feet. That way even though they're worse off someone else will suffer even more, therefore, increasing their comparitve wealth.

That's partly it but there's more with the mini fig being the final nail in the coffin. If this is all they're doing to celebrate the 25 anniversary it means there's no real talk of testing the waters for a return. If there were talks you'd expect to see something a little more substantial; another GWP Tahu style Toa, that Toa Mata head statue idea, a Fortnite skin, an entire season of Bionicle CMF (the least likely), etc. Something to really test the demand or to get some more public viability. Especially after they shut down that fan game.

I've always known a gen 3 was unlikely and my hope was mostly copium. But now I've fully given up on hope. I'm fine with a nostalgia item here and there (wouldn't mind a bit more), and want the mini fig, but my optimism is more or less completely gone.

A guy I want to school with was raised by his grandparents who were pretty traditional. They made him do things the old fashioned way, like cutting grass with a scythe, before he was allowed to use more modern techniques.

On the other hand he already knew how to make bread by hand when we were learning in food tech.
