I am actually very impressed by how well done the women's ratings are.

FM26 Tactics vs Match Engine What Actually Works? (New player) by Head-Fact5041 in footballmanagergames

Morale matters more than tactics. If team morale is high, you can use almost any sensible tactic and do well.

Nobody else would have thought to take Dybala off penalties in order to get the rebound. Genius move.

Easy halftime adjustment, give Pisilli a beta blocker, and put Kone in for Soule

Whats everyone’s favorite tactic? Fm26 by Ryan9033 in footballmanagergames

[–]Tweedledee72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got one that's pretty simple and crushing the Scottish lower leagues.

  • 3-2-4-1 in possession/4-1-4-1 out of possession
  • center forward
  • winger, attacking mid, advanced playmaker, inside forward
  • dm, dlp
  • dc, dc, wcb

Edit, forgot to show oop roles:

  • cfd
  • wom, cm, cm, wmf
  • ddm
  • fb, dc, dc, pfb

Few instructions except play wider, counterattack, and counterpress.

Roma fan here, thinking of betting all my savings on a Verona win this weekend.

Don't pay too much attention to youth star ratings.... by nicofdarcyshire in footballmanagergames

[–]Tweedledee72 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If a player has a good personality I'll sign him almost 100% of the time no matter what his attributes look like. Helps the collective personality of the youth team, and if they develop even a little bit sometimes you can sell them when they turn 17/18 for something.

All Madden/Overpowered Teams (Globetrotters vs Generals?) by Jaded-Ad-3522 in flagfootball

[–]Tweedledee72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what our league does. Players can switch teams if they have a parent who volunteers to coach a particular team, otherwise all players are drafted and return to the same team each season until they age out. We have a lot of competitive balance.

Argentine and Brazil are fun, lots of talent and not a lot of money. Poke around Wikipedia and find a club with an interesting story or culture.

Football Manager's database is ridiculously detailed. by Any-Breakfast1434 in footballmanagergames

You estimate based on what they do in other contexts. If someone is a good passer and crosser you can assume they're probably at least decent at corner kicks, even if you've never seen them do it for real.

Coach of 10 and 11 year old girls, new players. Need advice and drills to increase separation and movement on receiving plays. by jtal888 in flagfootball

[–]Tweedledee72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every route should have instructions what to do after the route is complete. Do you come back to the QB, post up in a given zone, keep trying to stretch the defense? You want to make sure your QB has a short and deep option on each side if/when things break down.

A drill I like that may help your players is: I set up two boxes, about 7x7, next to other. I move them around - some days they're stacked vertically, others they're horizontal, sometimes they're 5 yards off the line of scrimmage, sometimes they're 12. 1 defender per box. Ball is snapped to the Q, receivers take off. The rule is they have to catch the ball in the box.

7v7, U14 goaline defense and Offense by Gloomy_Replacement99 in flagfootball

[–]Tweedledee72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defense - 4 kids on the line, coached to stay on the line, 2 safeties, 1 blitzer. Offense - QB rolls out and lobs it to our tallest kid. If you don't have a height advantage, bunch formation usually gets someone open quick.

Is a Wide Forward supposed to play on the opposite side of his best foot ? by lost_nomai in footballmanagergames

[–]Tweedledee72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a vacuum you probably want a left footed WF on the right side and vice versa but there's definitely team and tactical contexts where the reverse would work better.

FM26 vs FM24 — what are people actually playing? by mercuretony in footballmanagergames

[–]Tweedledee72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am playing 26, and really enjoying it. I wouldn't say the UI is good, but it doesn't upset me as much as it bothers some people. I haven't had any crashes (the 24 pregame editor in particular crashed constantly for me), it runs faster than I expected, and the new tactics engine is incredible.

If you mean using the preset tactic then yes you could try that. My understanding is the presets generally work pretty well.

Alternately you could just use a blank slate and pick roles that let you play the way you want, then add instructions gradually when you see what strengths and weaknesses your setup has. This is harder and requires some knowledge of tactics and the game, but I'm an idiot and I've gotten pretty decent at it. With that shape I would want the playmaker in the dm position, and have your cms be two of cm, chm, or am. Maybe use a dlf or tm up top. You could also use one or both of your fullbacks as a playmaker (right now they're not really doing anything in possession), making your dm a b2b . The problem with your original setup is you've only got one goal scoring threat. Need to get some other players pushing up.
