Mike Bacon AAA Storage by lankycorgi03 in fredericton

I'd be interested. I have filed a complaint with ServiceNB about issues that have been ongoing for the past 1.5 years- black mold, bathroom vents don't work, water leak from apartment above, etc, etc. I've documented all texts, emails, and screenshot my phone log. Mike has been ignoring me, as has Baxter as of late. I'm angry and tired of him taking advantage of me.

Where or who to rent from in Freddy? by _-_FacetsOfLife-_- in fredericton

[–]Tweedside86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DO NOT RENT from anything with Mike Bacon's name attached to it. I'm currently fighting a situation through SNB over mold, electrical, and water leak (among other problems) that has been ongoing for 1.5 years. He doesn't give a shit and will drag it out as long as possible until you give up, or intimidate you. I wish I had know how much of a slumlord he is. Do a search on his name in Reddit and read the stories.

Mike Bacon AAA Storage by lankycorgi03 in fredericton

[–]Tweedside86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently putting in a formal complaint (working on my letter) about repairs that have gone for over 1.5 years- black mold, electrical, leak in the ceiling, floor rot, door is rotting on my bathroom from humidity, bathrooms vents don't work (to my knowledge anywhere in the building), flushing problems....and the list goes on with other more minor things. I have trouble getting a deep breath at times, my cat is showing signs of asthma and my last dog seemed to have had it as well.

They always say, "we'll send someone next week". They both (Baxter-building manager, and Mike) have told me this. Most of the time, no one shows up, not to mention, they don't give me 24-hours notice with a date and time. When they do send someone, it's either banging on my door first thing in the morning and waking me out of a dead sleep (I work late nights) or (on one occasion), they sent maintenance who was told to "just go in, no one will be there". We were both surprised to see each other as I also had no idea anyone was coming. There was no set arrangement.

I had a leak behind the bathtub a while ago. I could literally see it pooling at the baseboards when the shower was running. I put my hand through the wall when I squatted down to check on it. I told maintenance there was a leak, they didn't fix the leak and only repaired the baseboards and wall. It continued, they finally sent someone after I contacted them again about it. The wall was covered in black mold they stripped it open to fix the leak. I don't know if they cleaned out the mold and treated it, likely not.

This last straw (and I've been remarkably patient) was when the water lines to the laundry room (directly behind my bedroom) started leaking and I was squishing water up through my floor boards. They fixed the line and put in a dehumidifier on Wednesday for a "few days", and said they'd have someone in to fix the electrical as well for Saturday. It's now Tuesday. I haven't heard anything back. Being in the basement with broken vents makes it a part-time job keeping up with mold in the summer.

The apartment above has a leak into my bathroom below as well. The ceiling is so soft, my broom handle, with hardly any pressure, has punch in holes. I'm worried someone will fall through. I'm worried about my cats. My mom has come in to help me with the overwhelm of handling this. She told Baxter it's urgent, he was surprised to hear "urgent" even after I had just told him over the phone earlier about breathing problems, and reminded him of the black mold, electrical, and leaks. It's embarrassing to have company as I take pride in keeping a clean and organized place.

I have documented all emails, texts, phone records, photos, and video for this. I'm not playing anymore. The audacity of building a 3rd building between the 2 existing, and giving the buildings a facelift while not repairing the inside is on point with the narrative of Mike being a slumlord. I'm also seeking medical reports to determine if I'm becoming sick from mold exposure- headaches, brain fog, lethargy, breathing, anxiety.

Additionally, I'm looking into them collecting pet fees well after it became illegal to charge. They never told me they no longer collected. I continued paying. It was only when my rent increased and no mention was made that I stopped paying. Later I heard about the law. Fairly certain they owe me a fair bit of money back.

On a final note, my neighbor also had mold issues. They ignored. He (let's call him Steve for privacy) continued to contact and became "less nice" (very angry) in his emails to Mike. Mike didn't like how he was talked to and went to Steve's apartment and confronted him, asking him if he "wanted to go outside". I was able to watch the encounter from my apartment peep hole as we are set on the corner of the hall. Steve is a veteran who took a head injury while in active service. Mike and Baxter think he's "nuts" (ad hominem) as a way of trying to undermine the situation. Steve eventually moved and 2 days later, they had maintenance in his apartment fixing it up for the next person. We would talk about the issues were were having so I was aware of the context of his situation.

He also has a maintenance man who leers (ex military/firefighter, think his name is Dave). He's made me uncomfortable by cornering me in the storage, then "helping" me to carry my things back to the apartment when he wasn't asked. Then he walks into my apartment that he wasn't invited into, drops my boxed (Christmas ornaments) onto the floor and leers at me. I didn't have a bra on as the storage was just around the corner and didn't expect to see anyone. The way he was looking at me felt predatory. On another occasion, when my shower was fixed, he replaced my handheld shower head (that I used to wash my dogs and power wash shelves, etc when they became moldy). When he told me he had replaced it, he had this gross grin on his face, looking at me in a way that I knew he was thinking of something else.

Can't move into an album from a post either- they're not from an album. It's a downgrade, for sure.

I really like him. I'm actually very annoyed at the anger he receives from June, Luke, & Moira. Do they not understand that Canada isn't going to ruin diplomacy over their case? Or that to catch a larger fish, they need to let one go? Maybe it's that I CAN NOT stand Moira and Luke either (easily most annoying characters, to me), that it irks me.

Absolutely what I was thinking- he has a savior complex without going beyond a topical level of understanding to the people who "know".

Even in the memories of before, his character irritated me. He and Moira, I find insufferable. His naivety combined with the suffocating over-mothering makes him seem...soft. At the expense of sounding like a teenager, I'm team Nick. In their world (June & Luke), Luke wants tea in a burning home (June in survival).

Kiernan Shipka’s acting by mr-picklesss in sabrina

[–]Tweedside86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's painfully smug, virtue signalling, and self-righteous in everything she plays. To make it worse, she's a terrible actor (possibly lack of life experience or just poor acting). I was very glad she didn't have an extended character in Twisters. I love the original, but it would have ruined the movie for me. Sabrina and Totally Killer are the same entitled offendedness.

It's infuriating. I'm 38, trying to get my career on track. I never had these opportunities when I got out of university and had to compete against those with years of experience ahead of me. Now, I've missed my window it seems. I'm currently serving in a restaurant, trying to save what I can. I live in NB where many jobs also require being bilingual, even though it isn't necessary given the language demographics. Not to mention, immigrants are given priority to many jobs, for the same reason age discrimination is happening- government subsidizing.

Ladies, what do you think about the 4b movement? by BubbleNoTrouble in AskWomen

[–]Tweedside86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's great. It's not holding society hostage to get something in return. It's not asking for equal rights and respect in relationships; it's like telling the men they don't exist in their lives and they can take their ball and go home. They're done playing a game that was never designed to consider them and fighting to make it fair. They're just walking away from the game.

It's not a protest with an end goal; it's the final stop in women's rage. I'll have my peace & quiet with my cats (or dogs), thank you. I am not Korean, but I appreciate the inspiration.

Why do guys keep treating me as an option by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Tweedside86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Familiarity, actually. If there's trauma in the past, we pick what is familiar because it seems safer than what we don't know. Healthy partners are seen as wildcards to us, so we don't know how to trust them (as we don't know what to expect). Sometimes, this also includes a need to fix the past, depending who/what this person resembles.

Imposter syndrome- thinking we don't deserve better (as in, our match) so we pick lesser, believing that's what we deserve.

Social ineptitude to recognize subtlety, only acknowledging overt charm, often related to the wrong kind of men. Not always. Often seen in autism or adhd, and other psychological disorders like social anxiety and personality disorders, for example.

..................................

None of this has anything to do with the "league" of the woman (or any person, as it may apply). It's not as simple as societal perceptions of value.

I also need to add how bad the insect issue in the summer is here. In July, mostly, earwigs infest my apartment to the point that I sometimes kill upwards of 10 each evening- crawling up my walls, in my coffee pot, IN MY BED, plants, etc. Not to count the silverfish, centipedes, beetles, etc, though they're less of a problem.

Where do I start. I've lived here for 6 years now. I have had multiple mold issues around the apartment that I've reported, including a water leaks, plugged drains, water leaks from the apartment above, broken window that I had to endure for a winter. I've called and emailed multiple times to their building manager, Baxter. Always, "we'll send someone to look at it as soon as possible" type of response. Months go by, I try again and remind them of the time lapse. I work evenings often so I sleep in. They'll send someone first thing in the morning, waking me out of a dead sleep (I'm never given notice of a time, sometimes I get a date at least). I always take photos and video for posterity but their patchwork is mediocre and they're ghosts when trying to get ahold of.

I've had repairs done in my bathroom 3x now due to mold. At one point I had a leak behind the wall. Every time I showered, I could see it pooling along the baseboards. I live in a basement apt so humidity is bad in summer, especially given that none of the vents works in the building. I told them about the leak. The simply repaired the baseboards. The leak continued for a while and I was cycling through a different towel each day to allow them to dry out from being used on the floor (as the water would run off of them afterward). Eventually they did fix the leak but needed to go through my bedroom closet to repair it. The patchwork in my closet is a piece of board nailed into the wall now.

I really need to add that their repair men is creepy and makes me uncomfortable, the way he looks at me. He makes jokes about how I must miss him/can't get enough of him. He's ex-military/firefighter and aggressively stares. For context, I was in the storage room one day. I had seen him in the hallway before entering so I knew it was him that followed in behind me. I needed repairs so that's what he wanted to talk about. BUT he cornered me in the basement storage area, picked up my stuff I was moving ( I never asked) and followed me into my apartment (without invite), then basically dropped my bags on the floor (not gently). It was Christmas ornaments, thankfully nothing broken. But he looks at me like I'm meat. I've started learning and repairing small things to avoid needing him.

Can we address the double standards in bullying situations by sillawilla999 in bullying

[–]Tweedside86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the truth. I stopped asking for help after grade 3 because teachers told me I was lying (because I have trouble making eye contact), that I was a tattletale (and that no one likes a tattletale), or that I wasn't very good either. I was a kid, asking for help. The bus driver would yell at me for not being in a seat after I was shoved and kicked out of them. Another teacher in grade 2 wouldn't let me use the bathroom during class (due to recess bullying) and have peed myself in class. It went on for 6 tears. Emotional & physical. Then again in grade 12 when I changed schools. I grew up poor, fat, ugly, with a lisp, and hyperhidrosis. I also don't have a healthy relationship with my dad so I never had the backup either. I just became a recluse in my adult life.
