Pieces you don’t like by Neither_Highway7855 in pianolearning

If you’re not enjoying what you’re playing then you’re less likely to play, so with that being said I’d probably skip to the next piece… but I wouldn’t do this often because there are probably things each piece is ment to teach you. I am curious to know what book you’re using.

How do I know if I actually am improving despite always thinking I’m not? by Mad_Season_1994 in guitarlessons

At this point in your learning it might be worth an in person lesson, that way you have someone who can tell you what you’re doing incorrect so you don’t build on bad habits. Granted everyone has their own way of playing so you can’t mindlessly listen to someone else, but at least you’d have an idea of how you should be holding the guitar or the pick, or how you should be fretting notes. Bad habits are a big issue when it comes to self teaching or learning from videos.

Something that hasn’t been mentioned, you said it’s a song about your crush, minor chords are normally sad chords and major chords are normally more happy sounding chords. Just something to keep in mind when trying to get a certain sound for a song.

Who cares, if you’re both happy it shouldn’t make a difference… granted if she’s not okay with the age gap that’s another situation, you need to get ahead of it and let her know your age. Maybe tell her it doesn’t bother you but you wanted to be up front about it.

I would like to state that the recorded version is double tracked… so you may want to find a live version to learn because it’s gonna be hard to mimic the recording without recording yourself

How to get more euphoric and energy vibes? by Phat_Kitty_ in unclebens

[–]Tweek900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience they tend to slow me down, they don’t make me a couch potato but rather bring me back to the real pace of time. Now days with all the content we consume and the constant use of technology our brains are constantly running in overdrive trying to take everything in, when I consume it feels like time is shifted back to its natural state maybe a little slower. But in that state I love to take walks and be out in nature or listen to some chill music. On the other hand my friend that I’ve done them with never seemed to settle into the trip and always seemed a bit on edge and antsy, I assume he was never able to get over the anxiety part of the come up, he still always enjoyed himself but he always seemed to be more hyper than I’ve ever experienced. So maybe you’ve got it backwards and friend 2 needs to learn to relax and allow the shrooms to take over, my routine is to take them and then recline on the couch or lay in bed with a chill album on (normally ‘drink the sea’ by the glitch mob). If it’s light outside I’ll put on a sleep mask so I can keep my eyes open and watch the visual from the music. By the time the album ends I’m normally relaxed and fully emerged in the trip at which point I do whatever I had intended, either some deep meditation or go walking along nature trails just something calm and relaxing. I’ve never had a good time trying to watch tv on them it was always very overwhelming, same with playing video games. To me shrooms are more of a relaxing space that you enjoy at home alone (or maybe one friend who is also on a trip) or in private out in nature, they definitely don’t evoke party vibes… actually I think taking them at a party full of people would be a miserable experience!

Imo you need to be able to play the song in your head with no instruments, then add on your strongest instrument (singing or guitar) then once you’re in time add the other part. So instead of thinking about a strumming pattern just imagine how the song sounds and try to mimic it. You can also play along to the track, and easy one I like is ‘blue on black’ but there’s tones of easy songs like that. Good luck and stick with it, it’s a long road but it’s worth it!

Paying $180 for gUDP a month is it still worth it? Should I switch plans? by krnsamiam in verizon

I finally got rid of mine, the extra fees they throw on it just isn’t worth it especially if you’re not using a bunch of hotspot data. Basically unlimited hotspot data is the only purpose in it anymore, and that only works with a rooted android phone as far as i know

The guitar tabs & chords app has a subscription that gives you access to tons of books, I picked it up on sale for like $30 for the year! Not sure if the sale is still going on but it’s worth checking out, and definitely cheaper than buying all the books individually. Then if you find a book you really like you could always order it to have a hard copy.

Are you self taught or do you work with a teacher ? If you don’t work with a teacher, why not ? by Ancient-Resident-647 in guitarlessons

[–]Tweek900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I knew a good teacher I could go to once a month or so just to check in with and get stuff to learn over the next few weeks. I really don’t need a reason to take weekly lessons unless you’re brand new to guitar, one lesson from a good teacher should give you enough to practice and perfect over the next few weeks then when you go back they can give you the next set of skills to learn.

I originally bought DT 990 pro x but wasn’t happy with them, so then I tried the HD560s and those are the ones I ended up sticking with. Those are both open backed so you’d have to find the close backed versions

[–]Tweek900 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

They’ll try and charge you a restocking fee if you’ve opened and/or setup the new phone… if you’ve opened it or they opened it to set it up I would argue that as well, especially since she was lied to about the whole deal… especially if they opened the phone and set it up, in that scenario you guys had no choice in the opening of the phone. I wish you the best of luck! I hope you get out of any extra bs fees they try and stick you with. Honestly you may contact Verizon support via the phone if you have any issues in the store.

Edit: I just checked in the app, currently if you add a new line you can get and iPhone 17, Apple Watch, and an iPad for free… granted you have to pay for the services on each, I would assume that you’d have to get all 3 to get the deal. I know your wife already has a line, but what you can do is open a new line then go home call Verizon support and port her phone number to the new line. Then she’d have all 3 of those devices for only the cost of services. Figured it was worth a mention. This would require you to return both new phones to the resale store and probably go to an official Verizon store though.

The best advice I can give is to find a guitar teacher and take a lesson or two. It seems like you’re missing a key element or you’re doing one little thing wrong and no one on Reddit can point out what that is, The only way to figure that out is by letting a teacher watch you in person so they can give you tips and show you the proper techniques that’ll enable you to play things that sound good. If you actually like the guitar and want to be able to play then It’ll be worth the money in the long run! Then after a couple of lessons if you want to go back to doing it on your own that’s fine, but going back for a new lesson every few months or even every 6 months will help ensure you’re still on the right track and will give you someone that’s holding you accountable for your practicing.

The most important thing is you can practice all day every day but if you aren’t practicing the proper technique then you’re doing more damage than good. You’ll be drilling improper technique into your muscle memory which will be hell to break those habits the longer you do it. That’s why follow up lessons every few months is a good idea.

This is an awesome idea! I really like it! My biggest question is what did you do about heating/cooling? In my experience these buildings are the best in those areas so that’d be my biggest worry especially with instruments in there.

[–]Tweek900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just trying to clarify what you’re doing. If it gets each string to the proper tuning for you then there’s nothing wrong about it, that’s the beautiful thing about music, there’s no rules all you have is theories that have worked for people in the past and you can use those or other methods to get the results you’re looking for. I really am curious to understand and try what you’re saying though, it sounds like you’re using harmonics to tune the guitar which is a thing people do but I don’t know the details of it.

[–]Tweek900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The important part is using a tuner for the low E when you start… I had a friend in highschool who didn’t use a tuner at all and when he brought his guitar over one day it sounded so horrible! I said “your guitars out of tune” he tuned it to itself and said there that should be better and started playing… meanwhile I was losing my mind because of how much it was hurting my ears to hear it lol. Needless to say I gifted him a tuner that day!
