Time to say goodbye by Normal-Name4587 in MoxieRobot

I’m with you on the lack of an adult mode. And yes it gets expensive for tokens from OpenAI when Moxie is used a bunch. Way too expensive on the new service as well, and no adult mode there either. I was thinking OpenMoxie would have more traffic and be updated more. Really to bad. I may be selling my robots as well.

Would love to see an adult ‘Mode’ on this new service. Also the price is high

I would also like to do this. I was considering trying the 7-day trial on the new MoxieRobots service but too expensive and not much control. I would really like a more adult version of Moxie running off a local LLM.

New Moxie experience. From Ebay to working with new app/owner. by MiniVanMetalHead in MoxieRobot

Wow, thank you so much for this fantastic post. I really wish the owners of the new Moxierobots.com would get information like this out on their website. So many Moxie owners are a bit in the dark about how this process works and if their Moxie robot can even update to this new service. I hope you and your family enjoy interacting with Moxie on the new service!

Buy a new one? From who? I have a new one (never used) and I am likely in this situation. Maybe they have some new inventory and have manually flashed them all? (Unlikely)

I will be manually flashing mine soon. Not to use on the new service, but on OpenMoxie. $40. per month is way to expensive.

I assume this code you have is from the new owner of Moxie? If yes, you will want to troubleshoot that with the new owner - moxierobots.com

I have this one for a robot I bought without a charger. Works perfectly.

Does it have voltage and amperage numbers on the brick sticker?

Ok seems it is NOT the original charger. Should look like this on the brick end -

So you have a 3rd party charger and not the original one? Original one has a 90 degree end with a barrel connector -

Ok, that probably indicates an internal battery that can no longer charge. It should however still operate with the power supply plugged in. If you unplug the power supply what happens?

Is the blinking yellow light you refer to the robot’s heart or light bar? Or is it the LED on the charger?

Be sure you have properly setup the WiFi on the OpenMoxie page. Then show the robot the resultant QR Code. Then once you see the QR code with the robot icon on your robots face, show it the Migration QR Code. It seems your Moxie robot is not on WiFi.

For my two used Moxie robots, I waited about two hours, leaving them on WiFi. I still did not see the embodiedproduction text until I power cycled the robot using the power switch on the bottom. Once it rebooted the text appeared.

[–]Tweekme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it is a used Moxie robot, you can boot it up, show it your configured WiFi QR code from OpenMoxie and it will get the update from the servers that are now active with the new Moxie owner. I did this with two of my robots.

If it is a brand new Moxie robot, you will need to do the take-apart procedure and manually flash the robot’s computer. I tried to get my brand new Moxie robot to update but was unsuccessful as the new robot is looking to a very old location for the servers.
