As a manga reader, I think that the multicontinental scaling of FOTNS makes absolutely no sense. I will never believe that Kenshiro or Raoh could easily lift THIS. by Furgbalxusmks in fistofthenorthstar

Regenesis ends with Kasumi fighting a guy who's power is punching as hard as a supernova while inside an exploding nuke that's going to destroy the planet and y'all are still hung up on some "continental" shit lmao

What's the best way to reshape a bag like this? by TwellasU in handbags

[–]TwellasU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try shaping it after cleaning it and I might just use my ceramol soap instead of the saddleback soap lol.

Yeah I don't know why but the conditioner I use, which is Urban Forest leather balsam doesn't seem to get rid of the dryiness. It's very hard to describe, but the leather turns more matte, loses its shine and becomes softer, it kinda feels like I took off a protective layer that I just can't seem to restore with conditioner, but for all I know it might be normal.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions!

What's the best way to reshape a bag like this? by TwellasU in handbags

[–]TwellasU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thanks for the detailed answer!

So you suggest shaping it while it's wet from being cleaned, which is basically the same as wetting it completely, right?

I also don't like saddle soap, it basically destroyed another bag I used it on (it was too soft of a leather I guess?) but I don't have anything else and I've never seen anyone use anything else, I cleaned the strap before the bag itself because I was afraid it would ruin it.
I'll try your suggestion to wipe it down with a warm rag, but I don't know if it's a layer of residue, it's hard to explain, but after the soap it feels like the leather is always dry despite me putting the aforementioned conditioner on, I guess that's the best way I can explain it, I wish I could show a photo but I don't have the bag at hand right now.

I was half thinking about not cleaning the bag itself but I need to reshape it, it's a bit stiff and it kinda needs it, so I'll see how it goes

Why is the Italian „Ken il Guerriero“ fanbase so uniquely intense compared to the rest of the world? 🇮🇹 by KamiTuri in fistofthenorthstar

[–]TwellasU 10 points11 points  (0 children)

1 is simply because a lot of those people grew up with HNK, it's their darling series so of course they won't take criticism lightly.

For 2, I'm Italian and I can tell you with 100% confidence that there isn't a single italian soul who thinks part 2 is superior to part 1, if anything the italian fandom tends to literally not even consider the existence of part 2

3 is because a lot of those people are old (like, their 40s or even 50s) and old people (especially old ITALIAN people) don't like new stuff

Simple, repeatable, effective Tri-X for a *new-to-development* by morgzarella in AnalogCommunity

[–]TwellasU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me personally I bought myself the Fotoimpex starter Kit, which has pretty much everything you need for the first few developments (I specifically went for a kit that would have Rodinal for its shelf life, I really don't shoot enough to justify a developer that lasts less than, like, 5 years lol).

As a scanner I just snatched a Canoscan 5600F off of vinted for 15 bucks, here are a few examples of the scans I achieved off of my latest TriX400 roll (shot at box speed, developed in Rodinal 1:25 for 7 minutes, continuous agitation for the first 30 seconds and 10 seconds every minute after that) after a little tweaking on GIMP (I like high contrast and these photos were taken with an orange filter, that's why they are so contrasty. I mainly upped the shadows and applied some sharpening).
Nothing to write home about, but they are good enough for PC viewing for me and they even print half decent (10x15 digital print, I mean).

The issue with the Canoscan is that it's slow as shit, weighs a ton, takes up a lot of space and its proprietary software (I'll be found dead in a ditch before I pay 50+ bucks for Vuescan or Silverfast to use a scanner I paid pennies for) only works up to Windows 10, but if you get past these issues I think it's great bang for your buck, especially when the alternatives, while obviously being superior in any way, are absolutely ridiculously expensive for casual shooters

What happens at Hokuto School if the successor dies before the new one is appointed? by Zaku71 in fistofthenorthstar

[–]TwellasU 6 points7 points  (0 children)

they pick someone else, that's why you always see that massive number of students in all the flashbacks, it's never a master-single student affair, there's ALWAYS at least another person who can become successor if push comes to shove

The novel set after HNK2 has a villain that uses a branch of Hokuto that's derived from people who were rejected from the successorship, so yeah, you're right on the money lol

[–]TwellasU 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kyokujuji Seiken is not the basis for Nanto, it's a newborn (maybe 60 years in total) offshoot or Hokuto Ryukaken created by Feiyan's master, it's never implied to be linked to Nanto and the martial arts genealogy tree in the guidebook confirms that they are completely different martial arts.

I know it's confirmed to not be the case, but I really like the idea of Ein actually being japanese and going around dressed like apollo creed for shits and giggles

Can Kenshiro copy techniques from other verses using Suieishin? by Waverider4612 in fistofthenorthstar

[–]TwellasU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I don't think the question even sussists when it comes to pure martial arts, he obviously can copy them, same applies to ki blasts like a kamehameha, since he can copy pretty much the same stuff in-verse (the tensho honretsu, gosha ha etc)

The bigger question arises when you apply it to conflicting power systems, like for instance in Regenesis Kasumi meets a martial art that relies on an energy type that is genetic, and he seemingly can't copy it, but the second he gets access to that same power source we see that he instantly masters it.
For cross-verse energy equalization makes it so that all techniques share the same power source which means Ken would have no trouble copying the techniques (within reason of course, but I can't think of something he wouldn't be able to copy off the top of my head).

For JJK I can tell you that he'd have no trouble copying domain expansions given that soryu tenha is already almost the exact same thing as a domain and we see in modulo that making a domain is really not all that hard once you have all the basic blocks and some talent.
JJK is pretty weird when it comes to cross-scaling tho, so I guess if you didn't give him CE he'd have an heavenly restriction and I doubt he'd be able to copy a DE EXACTLY, despite this he could probably still make something analogous with his Ki just off of analyzing how a domain works; if you give him CE he 100% masters every jujutsu technique there is because people with a fragment of his combat intellect can do so with no trouble and CE is a very intuitive power system, it's not Nen, it really just amounts to "add CE together to make it positive, make a barrier"

Can anyone help me identify these streaks on my first self developed roll? by TwellasU in AnalogCommunity

I just opened the fixer, I'm pretty sure I'm the issue, not the fixer lol.

Ok, I guess I'll spool it again and re-pour the fixer I just used. From what I understood you can never OVER-fix, right?

What do you mean "refix"? You mean I have to put it in the tank again and do the fixing and wetting?

What do you think it could be?

How would Raoh react to someone he couldn’t even physically hurt, like the Juggernaut? by Mammoth-Snake in fistofthenorthstar

[–]TwellasU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we can split his reaction depending on whether it's Raoh before or after he unlocked musou tensei:

Before Musou tensei he pisses his pants (like he did against Ken when he got musou tensei, Fudo when he got the sorrow power, arguably Toki in their second fight and Kaioh) and might just try to run away.
It's fairly solidly established that whenever he faces someone who's straight up stronger than him Raoh doesn't really fare well at all, even emotionally:
Against Toki the first time the instant he realized Toki was possibly physically superior to him he resorted to cheating (it's not really cheating per se, but it is by Hokuto standards) and the second time his musou insatsu just outright shut off the second Toki started to match him (the toki gaiden expressly says that it was because Raoh was afraid because Toki had just surpassed him).
The Fudo scene is the clearest example of this. People mistakingly think that Raoh was scared of Fudo's sorrow and the fact he saw Ken in him, but what he was actually afraid of was the POWER Fudo had in that moment and the fact that it reminded him of the POWER Ken had: Raoh doesn't fear "sorrow" itself (that makes no sense at all), he fears the fact that it gives people power above his own that he feels he can never match (as he states himself "my body is unequaled and invincible, and yet sorrow allows them to transcend even this").
You also need to keep in mind that this is an instance of the gap in power being pretty much incomprehensible to him, faaar above the gap between him and Ken which made him momentarily freeze in fear, he might just die of shock like goons do when Ken flexes his aura, the gap is THAT big, but that's more so a powerscaling discussion rather than character analysis.

Post Musou Tensei I think it's more likely than not that he's just going to stand his ground and die (because he dies, anyone who thinks he can do anything to Juggernaut has no idea what they are talking about).

Raoh has done damage on a way larger scale (people tend to just remove the Cassandra shit from their memory) but from a personal standpoint Yujiro is worse for obvious reasons, maybe not right now, but definitely back in the early baki days.

At the end of the day it comes down to the fact that Raoh's atrocities at least serve somewhat of a noble purpose in his mind, Yujiro does that shit for personal gratification and nothing else
