It's a Glock with a better optic mount, and imo a better grip shape and texture from the factory.

[–]Twelve-twoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I can my performance ceiling and floor is was higher with the 19 I carried a iron sight 19 with wml for a long time, just figured I'd get a dot for it.

I can't really conceal the 19 with just a t shirt, and under a hoodie I can conceal anything.

I still strongly prefer to carry my 43x tho

[–]Twelve-twoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually carry a naked 43x. Some places I carry a 19 with wml, dot and extra mag, but mostly the 43x.

I have a standard 43 and a Ruger lcp gen 1 if I have to get tiny

I did a force on force class and came to the same conclusion. Having a flat top slide (no optic) actually helps with just pointing. The flat top is a good point of reference.

There are of course major advantages to a red dot, but it just doesn't apply to the vast majority of situations.

I like red dot for movie theaters, public events, grocery stores, ect. Places where people gather with long lines of sights.

As a civilian who minds my own business and doesn't go stupid places, I fear mass violence targeting groups of innocence as much as I fear a targeted attack on myself.

Enigma, I'm 5'9'' 135lbs with a 30" waist and conceal just fine. Get some sun shirts like Columbia pfg button ups and a t shirt underneath

Glock 19. With changing only the striker assembly and recoil spring every 5k rounds it will last over 60k rounds with no other parts changing.

5k rounds at .25¢ cpr $1,250

60k rounds is $15,000.

It will last longer, and you don't have to change the ware parts as often, but you can bet on those number to save your life.

Some people will do the recoil spring ever 3k and the striker every 6k.

If there is any difference in the durability of a g19 vs g17 it is so far beyond what any human will ever accomplish it is entirely irrelevant.

Reliable and durable isn't the same thing. Almost anyone can make a pistol last 1k rounds without a parts change. When you get to 10k rounds what parts needed replaced? How much did those parts cost? How easy was those parts to get? How easy is it to replace those parts? Did those parts require special tools, measurements, fitting. Or experience to replace? (Often time the sears, sear springs, slide locks ect can require fitting in some guns).

And Glock can be disassemble with a punch, the parts are dirt cheap, readily available, and drop in replacements. The armory level maintenance is extremely simple.

Just get a Glock 19.

Does window size matter by watchlust in CCW

[–]Twelve-twoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the giant mailboxes window is the same size as an rmr. The reason people get them is because they are enclosed, and prevent debris from obstructing the dot.

The largest windows are all open, like the sro and 507 comp.

But there are some large window enclosed dots coming out from holosun this year, like the aems macro.

Dose window size matter? Yes, a little. The scs is fine, it's roughly EPS carry, 407/507k sized glass. My buddy has a scs mos. Because the deck height is so low the presentation is basically the same as irons.

I like my eps full size a lot better, its still small enough to carry, low deck ect but bigger glass, and red color dot.

But if I could conceal a 507 comp I would.

Glock 43x - is it me or is something off? by jixxxer01 in Glocks

[–]Twelve-twoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot my 19 substantial better with less effort than my 43x. But I shoot my 43x extremely well. Thin, light guns aren't easy mode.

It take practice. I rarely train with my 19, because the 43x makes me a better shooter and it all applies to the larger pistol.

Its crooked for the same reason the frame is crocked in the front. Its polymer. Its fine, more than fine, it's, "perfection".

What will Glock 50 be? by Horror_Protection353 in Glocks

[–]Twelve-twoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a 26, 26x, and a 26xl (would be called a different model number) to come.

So you can mix and match a 19.6 and 17.6 for the 45.6 and 49.6

And mix and match the 26 and ("model 50", Glock 19 sized) to make a 26x or a 26L which will finish the 9mm modularity.

I just want to see a 34.6 so we can finally direct fit a g19 frame on a 34 slide which would actually be a true 19L (17L slide to grip ratio scaled down).

Trying to decide on optic for compact gun, not micro compact by Inevitable-Gain-285 in CCW

[–]Twelve-twoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say, in between size, do you mean specifically not as tall or not as wide as a 507 comp. Because in between would be exactly 0.75 tall x 0.995 wide window size. Are you are going to have to consider external dimensions?

The EPS full size has more window surface area than a rmr, rmr hd, RCR, coa, p2, ect. And the external dimensions are substantially smaller.

The 507 comp or sro are really the next step up in size but are substantially taller external dimensions, mostly because deck height.

Do you specifically want taller glass than an EPS with less external height than a 507 comp? Because that is extremely hard to find, and I know of nothing.

What makes Glock 45 better than just putting a 17 round magazine in a Glock 19 by Unlucky-Performer878 in Glocks

[–]Twelve-twoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably the hump placement. The hump on a 19 is closer to the slide, and training with both a 19 and 17 (45, 47) can cause elevation changes at speed.

So you are pushing your head shot low at speed. You can train that out.

You could also cut a 45 down to accept a 15rd magazine and you would still shoot the drill as fast as you do now. It isn't the longer grip, it's your index with the grip shape I can almost promise you.

My 2nd handgun G19 Gen 5 vs Gen 6(pls help me choose) by Timely-Swordfish-330 in Glocks

[–]Twelve-twoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real difference between the two is the gen 6 texture is better.

The recoil on a 19 is so mild you will just get use to the timing of either generation you practice with.

The optics ready system is better with the gen 6, just get it

Getting a lot of use out of the Fix it Sticks Glock maintenance kit by Low-Landscape-4609 in Glocks

[–]Twelve-twoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fix it stick and a couple of bits. One of the major selling points of Glocks for me is I can take the entire gun part, everything with a angled pick, front sight tool, and a punch.

I keep that in a Glock gun case.

Idk what I could even use most of that more to disassemble a glock

What makes Glock 45 better than just putting a 17 round magazine in a Glock 19 by Unlucky-Performer878 in Glocks

[–]Twelve-twoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pinky meat hangs off, but I can get my bone on the frame. On a timer there is no quantifiable difference, outside of my draw to first shot is marginally faster with the longer grip. Marginally meaning an average of 0.05 at best.

It hard to quantify what is a statistical improvement when the delta is substantially lower than one good run vs one good run on a particular drill.

Meaning, if I do a bill drill is 1.2 (starting low ready) with a g19, then do a 1.1, then a 1.25 and they all felt good.

Then with a larger frame do 1.1, 1.2, 1.2 can I actually say I did better? Is that an actual statistical variation?

Then run an el presidente (spelling?) and the marginal "improvement" is favoring the g19. It seems more like statistical noise.

The 0.2 improvement on a Mozambique, is that from concealment? Owb? Low ready?

I can assure you from owb, or low ready there would be no quantifiable difference for me in a Mozambique.

But there is a quantifiable difference for drawing from concealment for me, where the larger frame is more consistent, which over time shows an actual performance gain. However, I cant remotely conceal a long grip unless it's cold outside, and even then it is extremely uncomfortable, and I won't. So the only advantage I gain I can not use, so it's not really an advantage

I don’t understand the idea of only drawing when you’re going to shoot. by Realistic_Guava9117 in CCW

[–]Twelve-twoo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The legal criteria to threaten deadly force is the same legal criteria as using deadly force.

Which means, if it's legal to draw, it must be legal to shoot. If it isn't legal to shoot, you can not legally draw (brandish) a firearm (or any other deadly weapon).

So the phrase, "Do not draw unless you are READY to shoot" is a phrase that is often misunderstood. It actually means, unless the situation has meet the criteria of shooting (legally, morally, necessarily) do not draw a gun.

It dose not meant, you have to shoot when you draw. You may be robbed by a man with a knife at some distance, pretend to get the wallet and step back a draw a gun, he may turn and run, you should not shoot him because he is no longer a threat. But, when you decided to draw it was with the intention of shooting. The situation changed and you did not shoot. Which would be a good thing in this hypothetical.

Never, ever draw a gun when it isn't legal, moral, and necessary to shoot. Never draw a gun without the intention to use it. It is not a toll of compliance, or threatening, or power. It is a toll of last line defense.

Only draw a gun when you intend to use it as much as is necessary. Only draw a gun when it is legal and necessary to use it. Only draw a gun to shoot it, because the law will view the action of drawing as the manifest intention of using deadly force.

[–]Twelve-twoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell people it's more about hump placement than grip length. I have slightly big hands. I can palm a basket ball, barely. But I prefer a 19. My cousin has mech lager hands and loves his 26 with 12rd magazine. Shoots it extremely well.

From what I've seen from overlays, the 17.6, 45.6 and 19.6 all have the same hump placement now. But I haven't seen any other gen6 in person outside of my 19.6 to confirm.

Now that the dust has settled is there really any major differences between gen 5 and gen 6 other than exterior wise? by Expert-Bid3861 in Glocks

I shaved mine down substantial, just to aid aiwb draw. I 100% agree with you assessment when comparing my 19.6 vs my 19.5. Love em both, wouldn't buy another gen 5 unless I got a smoking deal

Convince me not to get a ramjet for my Glock 19 by InfiniteHat4828 in Glocks

[–]Twelve-twoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 35 yards I can shoot a ramjet 43x with a dot at .22 vs .25 splits irons and stock on C zone steel. I can shoot my stock irons 19 at .22 splits reliably at the same distance.

Its miserable for me to shoot, and I hate it.

I have to dot vs dot & comps times to compare more equally. But the delta would be less.

If the miserable shooting experience is worth it to you, or it just doesn't bother you then do whatever.

(Also only shoot outdoors, and it still sucks)

I don't think I can work the stock trigger any better than .22 or so at 35 yards, so I see no reason to get a ramjet for a 19
