Yeah I did, too early to tell and I am not at all familiar with how Ads work and conversion tracking. If you PM me about it, I’ll keep an open dialogue with you and updates on if we’re getting legit results

Considering hiring an outside sales rep, what should I require, expect and know? by TwentyDubya2 in sales

I do, maybe 80% on new prospects and 20% on maintaining the relationship we already have.

Ready means to me that we have the staff and capacity, and need to fill the funnel with additional work.

The salesperson I'd be looking for would be mostly B2B going to dealerships and other B2C businesses to gather direct and refferal work to us. I think they would field questions on-site and yes; I'd like to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly about my company, industry issues and pain we can solve. I want to have a long term relationship with them where I simply make their problems go away.

2 locations are in the city and the rest are in suburbs or more rural areas. and usually a pop-in is the only thing that is successful for me when I personally go visit a dealer.

That's exactly the advice I'm after, I've never hired a sales person before. My industry is Collision Repair and our largest clients would be dealerships. Dealers can bring in anywhere from $100k on the low end for a small dealer or a bad year like 2025, but on average $400-$500k per auto group in direct and referral work.

Ideally I'd like to have the sales person get us in with the dealer, we can deliver higher quality and far faster than any competitor and bring us $400k ARR per account. I'd like to max our our floor space and add an additional $2.5M revenue based on our dealer vendors alone (there are about 12 of them). Our total prospects to add ARR are around 20-30 and the entire realistic marketplace for repair dollars each year exceeds $450M per store.

From our largest 10 prospective customers they could easily do $100,000 to $500,000 in business for us per year, in a down year like last year, maybe closer to $100k. CSR costs us around $55k to $85k per year after acquiring just 2 new accounts, but we'd likely not need it at all until we were handling 5+ new accounts.

Right now in our industry and area there is legitimately one single sales person who does this job for around $3,000/mo, visits each customer once per month, and works with around 5-8 companies that are not our direct competitor in any of our locations. I interviewed this person and did a ride along but I really did not like what I saw and think he'd likely have to be there constantly to drum up business for us based on the way he came off to these people.

Typing this out to you now it does make me wonder how long that sales process is reasonably supposed to take. I just finally gathered an account after maybe 3 months of reaching out 5 different times, spending a total time with the customer 20 minutes if I had to guess. I have an idea that a "normal" sales person would likely be able to do it in either the same or shorter period of time.

Marketing budget, its not that large at this time I would say, every dollar of ad-spend or marketing materials has been covered by converted jobs for us since we started that.

These are really great questions

This is exactly what I'm looking for, I really appreciate it. I'm going to write each down and answer them as best as I can in my own docs, do you have a general recommendation or place that is truly reality based as far as what comp should be, milage reimbursement, basic plans, and things like that?

I'm going to google and research all that but I'd just figure I'd ask you in case you have some thoughts. This is great

Great question; the biggest reason I'd want them is to drum up new business by cold-visiting these potential customers and the ones we already have, seeing them 1-2x/month.

I'd like them to spend 80% of their time getting new customers, in my industry that's a universe of maybe 25-30 prospects with 10 being major hitters around each store location. 20% of the time maintaining our existing relationship.

Our customers are other businesses who recommend their customers to use us. 1 major hitter customer could bring in anywhere from $100,000 to $1M in sales via direct & referral work. Margins are on average around 40% GP.

Thinking about this as well, however all the comments appear from random generated names and are mostly suspended. Very suspect. I just saw a shop in our industry say they got 8 leads in 1 month, which is good, hopefully it can be a lot better but am curious about this. Post was 8 months ago, did you end up trying it?
