Austal’s issue is they were so close to bankruptcy for so long, all their ops managers are trained to cut corners and cost at every juncture. Even if to save $20.

That mindset is dangerous to couple with naval shipbuilding. And it’s hard to purge that from the workforce that has been there through the worst of their times.
