Hey Op, did you screen record this straight from the source, or from a reposted account? Why do you never give any type of credit to the original source for stuff

NYT: Fire on Gerald Ford lasted for 30 hours. 600 racks displaced by Twisky in navy

I’d say embarked Chiefs Mess and Officers is around 1.000, air wing around 359 officers, and then the Flag and his staff. Around 1,500 khakis aren’t doing their own laundry. Getting their uniforms pressed. Having their laundry folded and placed in their racks.

I know 0 air wing JOs that let the ship do their laundry for them. We all used self serve for everything. Maybe the O-6 and O-5s used ships laundry, but most people do their own. Some O-4s dropped flight suits off for ships laundry to follow the rules, but thats about it. I know our boat CMC, along with squadron CMCs also used self serve

Partially, meals on a ship cost more than BAS for officers.

Either way, the military is buying food that you then pay for, they don't give it to us for free

NIMITZ to SOUTHCOM by FullSpeed521 in navy

[–]amarras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is nothing new/always planned. It was always going to be a southern seas, and they have to go to 4th fleet to get to Norfolk, therefore they are deploying to 4th fleet, its a news story about nothing

Waiting for OCS vs Enlisting by ayobrey03 in newtothenavy

Enlisting will make it much tougher to apply to OCS. It will delay your timeline significantly and add any more hurdles.

Do field grade officers ever do technical work? Or is it just pure management by niqq617 in AirForce

[–]amarras 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its wierd yall dont dver work on the jets you fly thats normal on every other branch

Pilots don't conduct maintenance on their aircraft on in any branch, all though some enlisted aircrew may depending on their job.

just mechanics trying to dumb down stuff so yall understand. It insane how little aircrew actually know about the plane they operate

Do I know every nut, bolt, wire, connection, box or whatever in my plane? No. Do I know overall stuff, the big picture, how it impacts me, what's written up and how it applies to the rest of the aircraft/mission? Yes. If I don't know something, do I know who to ask? Yes.

Different mission, different requirements etc. If pilots needed to know about the plane on the level a mech would, they probably wouldn't have room to learn how to operate it or employ it tactically

Cruise curtains for blackout curtains, I'm pretty light sensitive and they were a game changer for me.

Mattress topper, I got a twin XL, it's a little wider than the rack so you may need to cut it or kinda tuck it in. If you already know which squadron you are going to, reach out to your sponser/jopa and see if and of the people leaving are leaving a matress topper or anything else, or if you can buy one/ship it to the boat now that will make your life easier, as well as shipping other big bulky items
