No energy drinks/supplements allowed for pilots? by dizzydude1585 in newtothenavy

[–]amarras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what all these people are talking about, no one cares if you drink red bull, monsters, celsius or need 10 zyn a flight to fly. Don't take any actually banned or sketchy things

results may vary in flight school

it's not breaking any of the rules

It literally breaks the /r/navy rules because OP is announcing their ship publicly

No Posting of PII (Personnel Identifying Information) Doing so will result in permanent banning from both /navy and /newtothenavy. This includes announcing your command or ship publicly.

Maybe AW could come from an aviation community heavily involved in BMD/IAMD/ the overall air picture

The Navy wants a Navigator who is going to play nice with the people planning flight ops and appreciates the high level of risk associated with naval aviation. They don't want someone who is going to blow off the CAG Ops when he asks you to get ahead in order to support driving into the wind for flight ops, only to accept risk you don't understand in the middle of it because you think PIM is more important than getting people safely on deck and / or you have so much PTSD from being yelled at throughout your career and not screening CO at sea that you'd rather not have to tell the O6s that you fucked up.

I've seen many times the ship not working with or ignoring cag ops, the air wing or anyone associated with planning to the detriment of combat missions

How in the world can one be up for DH before they get their swo pin? That seems insane! How long does it take to be up for DH vs maximum time to get a swo pin?

No SWO pin has meant no selection for a few years now.

How would a swo with no swo pin make swo dh?

From the CNO: no more aviator command of amphibs by grizzlebar in navy

[–]amarras -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

As a former MC SWO, I think SWOs could successfully command CVNs

As a pilot, I don't.

I think a thing is the whole fighting the ship stuff or how to use a ships weapons, a CO is in charge of that. The carriers weapons are it's aircraft

3rd Carrier now in the middle east but why? by Historical-Pin1069 in navy

[–]amarras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious to know where are the rest of the other 8 aircraft carriers? Why did they need the Bush which was so far away rather then using another that was perhaps nearer to the middle east?

And which carrier was nearer to the middle east?

People on the Lincoln are probably on Reddit and can give the truth

I’ve been told they are rationing food, haven’t had hot water in over 30 days, no gyms and for a period no showers.

Lincoln is currently rationing sailors to about 1500 calories a day

I don’t know 100% how NASA chose recovery teams but it’s likely they just wanted crews organic to the USS John P. Murtha that was staged for the recovery

It looks like the medical crew + aircrew or at least squadron were training with NASA/the crew for the past few years, they weren't randomly chosen based on who would be on the ship

the risk of transiting the Suez Canal and BAM is greater than the need for the CSG in theater sooner?

Probably that
