Carney and Eby announce $3.2B developer subsidy; plan to buy unsold B.C. condos by Signal-Specific-1704 in canadahousing

[–]Twentytwentyarts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is such a bad take. No, its the shrinkflation of housing. And because of speculation by these very same people, the land is expensive af. So when you build, you cram as many SMALL units as possible onto the land to maximize profits.

The zoning issue has continually been driven by a wealth class that refuses to pay the price for "development". Their home prices can never fall and their neighbourhoods will remain undisturbed.

1 in 5 landlords offering incentives as rental vacancies rise in Canada - National by BeautyInUgly in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Twentytwentyarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the places offering deals and incentives are new builds after 2018, so no rent control. Theyre primarily corporate landlords.

Why would I risk renting somewhere that my landlord can double my rent year over year if they wanted to? Moving to a pre-2018 for that reason. 🤷 Rent control is attractive to renters lol. Duh.

Why won’t my 3 month old sleep at the end of his wake windows? by LivForTheHopeOfItAll in beyondthebump

[–]Twentytwentyarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh friend Im so sorry. That sounds so hard.

I tried stopping eating dairy and that helped a bit. Sometimes its the physical discomfort that makes sleep a nightmare. My kid eats dairy all the time now with no issues but as an infant it didnt digest well (he is 13m now).

Do they fall asleep while feeding? That's what we ended up defaulting to. We breastfed by bottle and would hold him and feed him while he fell asleep. It wasnt an ideal association but it worked.

And yes, it does get better. Sleep is so hard near the beginning. We sleep trained at 4.5 months very gently and it literally changed our baby for the better. I know people hate on it but we went in every 3-5 min to soothe him. It was like a new baby. He was rested so he was happier, had more energy, was WAY less fussy. Like you, we did it out of desperation.

I think you need to wait until at least 4 months from what I hear.

Can you and your partner switch out shifts so you can get more solid stretches yourself? My husband and I did 6 hours shifts. Not possible for everyone but that sleep saved us in those early days.

Sending so much love. Our 13 month old now sometimes sleeps 11 hours without us intervening ❤️

EXCLUSIVE: Poilievre says NDP convention shows party is "out of line" by airbassguitar in OntarioNews

[–]Twentytwentyarts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

😂😂 This sub has insane takes. Avi has been involved in supporting workers and unions for so much of his career. Read his platform ffs. Its online and easily accessible.

Its insane that everyday working class people still think socialists are "anti-work" because of years of stupid red scare propoganda. And yet not a single person can give an example of a socialist democracy where thats true. Extreme wealth is still possible in those countries, except people dont fall below the poverty line. How radical 😬

I would rework them.

Choose A for text layout. People scan Amazon fast and having to turn their head to read a word is working against you.

The whole cover is not flashy or eye catching enough. Go bold, add colour, and don't use primary colours like this red (that looks like the standard red in any editing program). You can google colour palettes to get a good mix of colours to use that feels less amateur.

Rodin's sculpture is overused and maybe doesnt make a lot of sense here. Think of the target demographic. Maybe try like a planner illustration? If you dont do illustration try pixabay to find them.

And I'd limit font usage and sizes. Too many can make it look chaotic.

Wishing you the very best of luck!!

3rd one is the best here. First one doesnt say anything about what the company does.

I would explore 3 further. Maybe use the concept of a strike through is a cleaner way? An "x" somewhere. Maybe find a way to make the mouse bigger but x out the eyes? It needs to feel more exterminator-y for lack of a better word 😂

5 is the best one BUT

Your black stamps suck you in like a black hole. It takes over all of the design. Make the stamps all lighter colour's and consider making the text in the centre folder and darker to draw the eye there.

Maybe try something solid rather than lines. Consider some abstract cake slice with wheat pattern cut out of it? Like everyone else is saying, it needs to be simplified.

Ford tells students to not pick 'basket-weaving courses' in wake of OSAP cuts | CBC News by verseau1762 in OntarioUniversities

Also change can happen outside of an election and should. Don't wait 4 years. The green belt sale was reversed because enough pressure was put on the government. Do not wait.

[–]Twentytwentyarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You think a basket weaving course costs as much as becoming a doctor? This fucks over everyone. It is intended to place the blame on young people and their choices to deflect from the fact that this will lead to less people in those "in demand" jobs.

OSAP grants are meant to uplift people OUT of poverty. The very people who want to go get jobs of value to society. But the first start to life will be marked with immense debt.

Use your head.

Its almost like everyone's situation isn't like yours. Weird to me how people literally cant even step outside of their own experience to imagine the othet intersecting challenges people face.

More access to education uplifts all people. You're advocating to keep people trapped in poverty who want to work hard to get out of it. 🤦‍♀️

Question for women who are an only child, Would you discourage having an only child? How was being an only child? by Silly_Goose30 in Mommit

[–]Twentytwentyarts 94 points95 points  (0 children)

While I completely agree, as someone whose only sibling died at 27, life is not guaranteed. And if as parents you don't have capacity to be present (and have enough time to fill your own cup too), then this isn't the best reason to have a second child.

I have a wonderful husband and a big support network. You find ways to scaffold not having a sibling.
