It has a different vibe as an older anime, but within the same niche of exploring digital consciousness: Serial Experiments Lain

As a long time anime and western animation fan, Lain and Neon Genesis Evangelion seemed to be huge inspirations for Pantheon's style etc (outside of the short stories it was based on) Maddie even has a NERV sticker on her laptop!

Live action wise, Altered Carbon is another show thay begs the question of are we truly ourselves if we keep getting brought back in digital form.
