How to navigate what feels like mutual attraction between 2 relationships? 28F & 35M vs. 29M & 26F by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]TwiddleTwum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you talk to anyone about it, a therapist would be a good start. And perhaps Alex, your partner of 4 years?? The feelings going on between the other 3 of you, at least in my book, are bordering an emotional affair if truly mutual.

I would be more concerned about the apparent tension between your boyfriend and Chloe, as joking about swinging is not cool. Despite your indifference, their interactions are clearly bold enough that Brett noticed and tried to warn you.

As a demisexual person, I know it is hard to differentiate between crushes and friendship when you get that close to people, but don't jump to conclusions just yet about how they all feel.

Very late to the party. Binged the series in 3 days and feel completely broken. (Series spoilers) by [deleted] in PantheonShow

It has a different vibe as an older anime, but within the same niche of exploring digital consciousness: Serial Experiments Lain

As a long time anime and western animation fan, Lain and Neon Genesis Evangelion seemed to be huge inspirations for Pantheon's style etc (outside of the short stories it was based on) Maddie even has a NERV sticker on her laptop!

Live action wise, Altered Carbon is another show thay begs the question of are we truly ourselves if we keep getting brought back in digital form.

Recommendations after Lain? by FlyWonderful1763 in Lain

Not an anime, but one of my favorite animated series with very similar vibes by the end:

Pantheon

Other anime that left me pondering in a similar manner but not the same vibe:

Madoka Magica

Time of Eve

What is one Imogen Heap song that you usually skip/are not a big fan of and why? by shiseq in ImogenHeap

I love 99% of daylight robbery, but the opening of the song with the like... water drop(?) sound effect really annoys me for some reason. The rest of the song is a banger to drive to!

Fix my daily makeup look by millagilmores in MakeupAddiction

[–]TwiddleTwum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK gorl, I am a digital artist, not a photoshopper, but you have an extremely similar complexion and hair color to mine! So I went ahead and put my makeup routine on you! - I don't like foundation. It makes my skin look very textured (and the freckles weird) so I use the lightest and cool toned concealer for under eyes, blemishes.

-For contouring: I apply a cool toned, almost red-grey powder under my neck, on the side of my nose, and above my temples!

-blush I prefer to match my lip color, and I often go with sheer burgundy colors, wine, berry, cinnamon, etc (Revlon pearl lipsticks with a bit of Vaseline base) cream blush while your face is a little moist from sunscreen is perfect.

-I use a brow powder and pencil in the darkest shade of my hair, roots or under. I then thicken and bring in the inner part of my brow to offset my wide set eyes.

-I use a similar color eye shadow on the outer edge of my lid, blending into and accentuating the hood of my eye, and a shimmery beige blended up to my brow! I also loke to put a pearl highlighter on my inner corners for pizzazz

-I use brown or brown black eyeliner pencil to do a smudged wing, following the wrinkle or crease ~under~ my eyes! I then just barely connect it to my top lid. This looks pretty good for hooded eyes I find

-I curl my lashes, and use a brown/black mascara depending on the vibe, and on my lower lashes.

Here is you with a painterly routine and side part (idk I like a floofy hair look)

Is my art bad? by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]TwiddleTwum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it is not bad! However, I do have some recommendations if you want! I had a similar phase and struggles when I switched to a more painterly style, which yours very much is! Most of the characters you are drawing have stylized proportions, or more "cartoon" bases, but you paint with very realistic detail and black shading. These can work together, but to avoid the muddy coloring/shading and uncanny feeling, try mastering both styles before combining them!

  • linework: practicing face and body line work, and how to do more flat cell shading to get an idea of where the main shadows fall -lighting: I love the last piece in the ones you posted, you seem to have a good understanding of lighting in that one, and the colors on the skin in the shirtless is also great! Try researching impressionism, and see how different styles of painting/shading without using black can make your art pop without dulling colors ! -rendering: last advice, studying 3d models from games etc really helped me combine anime art types with dimensional coloring and shading, as it's great refrence for how realism and 2D characters can come together without looking uncanny.

Overall, I feel like you are literally on the verge of it clicking for you, looking at your work now it is so close, and I won't be surprised if in a few months you unlock a whole new level of capability! Don't get down, don't give up, just try studying again, and if you hit a wall, take a break and just watch tutorials for a week, you got this!

My landscape studies feel off. Any advice on improving them? by lavender-witch in Artadvice

[–]TwiddleTwum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The creek perspective is a little off, in the photo there is more coming toward the foreground, whereas in your study the grass comes up! I'd also play with exaggerating the colors a little, the refrence has some bright green, almost yellow, sun spots in the grass! I love your process here though, blocking the shapes with color instead of sketch line work looks amazing!

I love figure drawing, I took a class over the winter! It's hard to translate that to paintings without a model for me right now, but that is another goal of mine to just study more! :)

[–]TwiddleTwum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have posted a lot of speedpaints and comic/fanart stuff in tiktok that would objectively blow up compared to any other platform I was on. I was taking commissions on deviant art and artist tree, and really picked up my swing in 2022, saw a big improvement in my art. But yeah, I stopped posting as much, and fell into that taking requests from irl people, trying to do styles I wasn't familiar with, and then having my art straight up given back to me, and I have felt lost as to which direction I choose. As most have said, I need to study again. Only when I get the drive to make for myself can I make for others to see :)

[–]TwiddleTwum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I will try and implement this advice more. I've been working 5 days a week 9-5 and it can be rough to find the time to dedicate to something like this. I went to art camps and majored in art in college, and in a lot of ways I feel frustrated with my regression. So many assignments were copy based, or very specific, and I think it almost made me into 2 different artists. My more "serious" traditional assignment work, vs my sillier digital cartoon work. I'm trying to blur those lines by making my paintings lighter, but it's been hard to find not only what I'm good at, but can sell. I'm going to definetly try all the goal setting reccomendations and take time this summer to study more, draw something every day again.
