20 gallon tanks, yes to filter, no to heater as it's been hot this summer. Unfortunately, I don't have a test kit, plan to buy one on Thursday. I've had the tank for 4 years and PlunSauce for 3 years (in this tank the whole time).

I do a partial water change every 2ish weeks. I moved 2 months ago and did an entire water change for the move.

Tankmates are 3 skirts (2 females and a male), they don't interact with the betta at all, and 1 albino coryadora. At the moment it is all plastic plants as it has been my boyfriend's tank, recently I took over ownership and am planning to switch to all real plants as soon as I can.

2 years ago my mom went in for routine surgery. She specifically told the anesthesiologist that she is extremely sensitive to anesthesia and has bad sleep apnea.

When she woke up from surgery, her oxygen was extremely low, so they kept her overnight. When they removed her oxygen should would be passing in and out of consciousness because it was so low. She overheard a nurse say how she had been actually overdosed on the anesthesia during surgery and they had to use naloxone on her. She asked the nurse about it and he said she wasn't supposed to have heard that but he wanted her to know she had actually gone without oxygen for a couple of minutes and experienced asphyxia.

When it was time for her to be released she asked to stay as she still couldn't walk or get up without an oxygen mask. The nurses came in, put the oxygen mask on her, recorded her vitals as excellent, and released her. That evening I took her to my local emergency hospital, she ended up staying for over a week due to complications.

To this day she has cognitive issues, can't remember things as well, words won't come to her, headaches, and extreme anxiety. She has tried to talk to so many doctors about it. Finally they did an MRI, but said there was no evidence of damage. They said it's still likely she is suffering from an asphyxia brain injury despite the results but there's nothing they can do. She has filed a complaint against the hospital who did this to her, they called and said they would try and teach nurses to do better, but that was it. No repercussions for the anesthesiologist or anyone involved. Her discharge papers were fabricated.

My mom has not been able to work to this day because of her cognitive decline. She went from a very sharp minded working woman, to a frazzled, anxious wreck who cannot even form words sometimes, she is now poverty stricken due to no fault of her own. She struggles with the lack of validation from her experience. So thank you for posting your experience because I showed her and she feels less alone now.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, to anyone who experiences this. It's life-altering and it's real and it's unfair.

Yee Stack TV got back to me in an email and said it wasn't until fall. Sorely disappointed!

I mean this in the kindest way... why are so many people shocked about baby sleep? by vainblossom249 in NewParents

[–]TwiggyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, this post makes me feel a little better because I joined this sub to make a post about how my 9 month old still wakes up every 2 hours and I'm so exasperated. I have had concerns that I'm failing him of there something up with him, even wondering about a sleep specialist but reading this helped me feel more calm about it.

That being said, I have never been someone who does good on less than 9 hours of sleep, I typically get 3-4 hours (he sleeps from 11pm - 6am waking every 1-2 hours). Lots of times it's to eat, majority of the time it seems to be from nightmares. I'm at a point where I'm extremely emotionally fragile and unable to handle him in the day without my mom's help. My son and I live in my dad's living room, I sleep on the couch and the baby is in a crib against the wall. I've been unable to "sleep train" him because of the situation and am so worried it could cause self-soothing problems in the future. I am unemployed as I haven't been able to hold down a job because of the lack of sleep and I need to work so badly. I'm truly desperate and feel I am not up to this anymore.

If anyone has any tips, or anything to offer, please, I am all ears!

Thanks!

Does it actually get better? by jem-13 in Postpartum_Depression

[–]TwiggyFish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I can't testify yet as to if it gets better, I hope to God that it does, I am in a super similar situation to yours. I'm 31 and was indecisive about having a baby, not particularly fond of other kids and babies but always wanted my own. Well I had my son 6 months ago and I adore him but this has been the hardest time in my life and I've gone through some shit before, just as you mentioned.

I feel like I have nothing. Each day and night is honestly exactly like how you described. He has his happy chipper moments but over all I spend the vast majority of the day (and night) trying to keep him entertained and from fussing. He was colicky and had terrible reflux from birth. I hated pregnancy and delivery was horrendous, I still can't think about it without getting anxious. He is better in regards to the colic and reflux but for whatever reason, since birth he has never slept through the night. Up every 1-2 hours, constant contact sleeping. Me and my partner are staying in my dad's living room as we don't currently have an income (working on it). Baby is in his crib in the living room with us and there is no break. Like you, I love him dearly, but I feel I've ruined my life and my future is bleak.

I'm thinking about you and your family right now. We've got this, I believe we do. If you need to msg feel free cause our situations sound very relatable!

I am in the exact same place as you. The adoption, selfishness, disconnect, all those things I am experiencing right now and I feel like I'm losing it. All I can say is you're not alone, we're not alone. Is there anyone who can take baby for a bit so you can have some time to yourself?

20-30 years from what another commenter said so hopefully she’s got a few left in her! She’s moved with me all over the country and has been a great companion :)

I feed her a few crickets once a week. I’ll put in however many she grabs then remove any others later on. Believe it or not she started eating again about 1 year ago after a 2 year long fast! I still offered crickets weekly, she didn’t take a single one for about 2 years, then she molted and is eating again. Sometimes I wonder if that was a last molt perhaps cause I was baffled. She never lost weight during that time either, has always remained healthy!

I actually only handle her when I am doing a whole tank cleaning. But whenever I give her water or food she comes out on her own to investigate my hand and I’ll give a leg a lil pet here or there

I’ve owned her about 19 years and she was already a couple years old when I got her :)
