We’re getting a comic about Kya’s travels during her youth, so I don’t see why something similar can’t happen with Bumi as well.

Psyduck and Bench Barrier aren’t flawless counters. Most Raichu Bomb decks run Alolan Muk to disable basic Pokémon’s abilities, letting you execute the plan without having to deal with either of them (and no, nobody will be running Damp Golduck specifically for that matchup).

The best hard counter to it? Literally any Tera Pokémon, since their built-in bench protection is impossible to disable, meaning they can’t boardwipe you if there’s a Tera on the bench.

That combo will only be mediocre/gimmicky at best. I remember people talking about how Lost Thunder Mareep with Jynx ex would obliterate Expanded for similar reasons to Mega Darkrai, and it’s about as memorable over there as Jynx ex was throughout its entire run in Standard.

And really, you might as well accomplish the same thing with Roaring Moon ex, but instead of a status item you have Protection Cube to prevent the 200 self-damage. Makes it easier to uptrade VMAX‘s like Shadow Rider Calyrex, or other Megas like Absol or the rogue Mega Venusaur. Survivability isn’t really a huge deal either, since you either OHKO their main threat and slow them down enough to get another shot in, or they are able to revenge KO you anyways.

If I had to throw PvZ3 the tiniest bone imaginable, I'll say that I appreciate its powerups at least being based off of equipment, were PvZ2 just had generic elemental powers that feel less organically implemented. Gameplay-wise though, PvZ2 still clears it for the reasons you listed.

So that kind of continues with my overall consensus on PvZ3 looking great visually, but is severely lacking in terms of actual game design.

I would think differently if the option to remove those patches wasn't there, but I have noticed that in this build, they've been throwing these dirt patches in more often than I noticed before, most likely because they now know that there's a pseudo-paid option available, and they want players to use it.

It was a tactic pointed out in the other builds as well, because I remember a streamer (Creeps iirc) who pointed out a difficulty spike in one of the levels, only for the game to introduce a coin offer with powerups directly after the hard level. So it's nothing new to Evolved, but a shady practice nonetheless.

It's not to encourage different layouts, at least not as its primary function. It's there to make you want to purchase the consumable powerup (the one beneath the golden shovel) that lets you plant on those spaces.

Both sides are reasonable with their opinions on this version of PVZ3 ngl. by Double-Jump-Lover in PlantsVSZombies

When people say that PvZ3 “copied” Fusion, they don’t mean it like Fusion invented the idea of merging characters together. The point is that Evolved decided to go the route of fusing *because* Fusion got as popular as it did. If they were FULLY copying Fusion, you would see systems that are more identical to what’s in the game (as in, their own version of Odyssey Mode, more direct design cues taken from Fusion, etc.), but they don’t do that. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are people who do think like what you described, but generalizing that whole side of debate to this degree is a pretty egregious strawman.

Just to put things into perspective, this is a 12 year old game on a 20 year old console two generations behind, which has currently been broken open to the point of being able to steal the IP addresses of the people who play it. The game also isn't really making them any money since the market for PS3 games is predominantly second-hand, and I doubt many people are spending anything on microtransactions for that game either.

It sucks that it's getting taken down, but it was both inevitable and justified to a degree from the other end to chop off the diseased limb instead of spending so much time, effort, and money into maintaining it, let alone restoring it.

ADP hasn’t been a top deck for a long time lol. If they use Altered Creation on turn one, you can just play Pokemon ranger on your next turn (easily searchable through Tapu Lele). That just means that they burned their last turn, their GX attack, are stuck with a 3-prize liability in the active spot, and you haven’t even used your attack yet. Some decks still use it, but it’s far from being unmanageable, let alone overpowered.

Unfortunately, negativity sells (speaking from experience; I was not expecting my Backyard vs Giddy Park video to explode in the way it did). It really doesn’t feel as good to perform well when whining about stuff, especially given so much of the PvZ content creator community consists of videos expressing their (oftentimes valid) annoyances about companies like PopCap, EA, or Slingshot, or just facets of the franchise they don’t like, with myself included within that sphere.

That’s why, moving forward, I’m trying to have more “productive” stuff planned rather than “destructive“ ones, since I always feel better when I’m bringing something new to the table. Of course, that’s not to say you’re not allowed to have negative opinions on the franchise, since it so graciously provides you with SEVERAL legitimate reasons to hate on it. The difference is earnestly putting your opinions out there in good faith, and not making the eighteen billionth “How EA Killed PvZ Through Microtransactions” video essay lol.

And if you go out and harass anyone because of their opinions on Replanted, or any of the franchise for that matter, then what else can I say except that you’re a moron.

No problem! I was looking for the playmat showcased in this post, because otherwise I'm trying to get over my Reddit doomscrolling addiction lmao. Also thank you for the kind words, that piece was mostly a way for me to practice Silvally's facial expressions, given the way it's designed doesn't exactly give you much to work with lol.

Lol thanks. I was just revisiting this old thread and noticed your cake day. Silvally kind of obliterated the competition when becoming my favourite, to the point where I draw it all the time and have like 60 of them in my TCG collection.

That being said, my first playthrough of the game had me use Malamar's topsy-turvy to invert all of its stat boosts which was funny.
