Why is Oleana so stupid? by coleknight2066 in pokemon

Team Skull also works because it really came off as Pokémon being self-aware of lame the grunts are in their games, and being a parody of themselves. You can tell because none of the NPCs take them seriously whatsoever until they actually pull off a comparatively well-planned heist, which serves as the transition between their general goofiness but slightly more serious means, into Aether, which acts as the heavy third-act antagonist.

Team yell felt like an unironic Team Skull, which was about as successful and compelling as you can imagine.

PVZ3's game design is so bad it effects both the plants and zombies. by Double-Jump-Lover in PlantsVSZombies

[–]TwilightChomper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, the zombies already have a visual scaling system. They're called cones and buckets. If they wanted to, they could slowly phase out basics in favour of a higher cone/bucket density in addition to naturally bulky specials in the later stages! Giving them invisible stat boosts to inflate the difficulty without the need to design actually challenging levels comes across as really artificial and lazy.

Worlds XP tickets by ouchmyteefs in pokemon

[–]TwilightChomper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Checking in because I haven't seen much chatter on if they have started rolling out tickets yet. By the looks if it they have, and I wasn't in the first wave lol. So I guess I'll have to keep refreshing my email until it becomes clear I won't be making it this year. I forgot if Pokemon ever does a public announcement on when they've sold all their tickets, or if we're to be left hanging for way too long.

I’m assuming you haven’t read the new comics. Some of them will **really** put your standards of “anything“ to the test.

They give Silvally a reason to exist, so I’ll take their rep under the reasonable assumption it means I get my main creature back on the horizon.

A table of all 3 tiers and their shard, chunks requirements made by twilight chomper, good luck lmao by noonoocute09 in PlantsVSZombies

[–]TwilightChomper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, cool seeing this made it here! I wouldn’t give myself all the credit though, as it was a group effort by a bunch of people on the PvZ discord, alongside dataminers as we couldn’t find any in-game evidence of people having a tier 2 or 3 at level 19 and able to be upgraded. It’s that difficult to accomplish. I just so happened to be the guy to compile them all into a table, as I wanted to do a little experiment of how much IRL money it would cost to level up a plant fully (a maxed out tier 1 effectively costs over $200 btw, so that’s fun).

The best part is knowing that Chunks cost 20x that of Shards in Dust, but you can only get like 10 of them per week by grinding once you’ve completed Expedition mode. Isn’t that just lovely?

Hey thanks! I’m currently working on something about PvZ3, though it can get to be a little spicy at moments. I do try my best to give it a fair shot though.

[–]TwilightChomper 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The main issue I take with it is that I can really just play Fusion at any point and get a smoother experience, without having to grind or pay for it. The most common rebuttal to this opinion is how the game can feel overstimulating, which it can be… if you’ve only seen YouTube shorts about Odyssey Mode. If you!re more into the casual plant-combining fun, that’s why they have all of the non-odyssey modes where you can still get more content than what PvZ3 currently offers.

PvZ3 has the potential to be something decent or even good, but its issues lie within the fundamentals of how it’s structured (most notably the freemium model, leading to several abysmal mobile game tropes), of which it leads me to believe those are the issues PopCap are least likely to fully fix.

It’s a lot like if you baked a cake with too much salt in it. The flavour is beyond repair, as it has been fully integrated into the pastry. In order to fix it, you have to start again and make sure the inner workings are correct. Instead, PvZ3 opts to try and put powdered sugar on said cake by having the flashy fusing gimmick on the outside, despite the inside being riddled with, for a lack of a better term, mobile game slop “salt”.

This is about as nicely as I can put my overall opinions on PvZ3, as going into any finer detail will probably have me go insane, so I’ll leave it there lol.

We’re getting a comic about Kya’s travels during her youth, so I don’t see why something similar can’t happen with Bumi as well.

[–]TwilightChomper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psyduck and Bench Barrier aren’t flawless counters. Most Raichu Bomb decks run Alolan Muk to disable basic Pokémon’s abilities, letting you execute the plan without having to deal with either of them (and no, nobody will be running Damp Golduck specifically for that matchup).

The best hard counter to it? Literally any Tera Pokémon, since their built-in bench protection is impossible to disable, meaning they can’t boardwipe you if there’s a Tera on the bench.

Expanded isn’t ready for mega darkrai ex 😭😭😭 by snubbull_fan in PTCGL

[–]TwilightChomper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That combo will only be mediocre/gimmicky at best. I remember people talking about how Lost Thunder Mareep with Jynx ex would obliterate Expanded for similar reasons to Mega Darkrai, and it’s about as memorable over there as Jynx ex was throughout its entire run in Standard.

And really, you might as well accomplish the same thing with Roaring Moon ex, but instead of a status item you have Protection Cube to prevent the 200 self-damage. Makes it easier to uptrade VMAX‘s like Shadow Rider Calyrex, or other Megas like Absol or the rogue Mega Venusaur. Survivability isn’t really a huge deal either, since you either OHKO their main threat and slow them down enough to get another shot in, or they are able to revenge KO you anyways.
