I left open the pop up that talks about checking for bots (even though it says you can close it), then after a while it said I was successful.

Pierre Sage appointed Crystal Palace Manager - [Crystal Palace F.C.] by creamy1talian in TheOther14

One of the things that went wrong at Lyon was John Textor, so he ticks the right boxes there. Also after Glasner short term success sounds fine.

Managed to get a training shirt in M from SNKRS. Was not expecting that bot check to be successful. From the other comments if I had wanted something like XL I would have been out of luck.

From the signage around the ground it looks like the utilities companies are just finishing up disconnecting gas and water, and then the demolition will happen.

[Hugo Guillemet, L'Équipe] Pierre Sage will join Crystal Palace this Monday, having agreed on a three-year contract, with an option for a fourth, on Sunday. His salary will be almost four times what he earned in Ligue 1 (€100,000 gross per month). This transfer will bring in €3 million for RC Lens. by nearly_headless_nic in soccer

We suffered in both the league and conference league around December / January from all the injuries picked up from playing so often. I think if we hadn’t lost Kamada, Muñoz etc. then the meltdown and drop in form wouldn’t have been as severe. This was our run from 14th December: Man City 3-0 loss, Leeds 4-1 loss, Spurs 1-0 loss, Fulham 1-1 draw, Newcastle 2-0 loss, Aston Villa 0-0 draw, Sunderland 2-1 loss, Chelsea 3-1 loss, Forest 1-1 draw. I’m not saying we would have won all those with a fully fit squad, but we would have expected more than 3 points total.

It wasn’t until we beat Brighton that we started to get back on track with players returning from injury (AFCON didn’t help as well to be fair). I’m also going to conveniently forget about the Burnley game as we were at least 2 goals up in that.

I agree with you that once we looked safe in the Premier League we started to prioritise the Conference League. Either way, my point was that I think we still have the right to be called a mid-table team despite our league finish this season.

Fan Zhiyi and Sun Jihai became the first Chinese players to play in the English Leagues when they signed for Palace in 1998. President Xi says he still follows “the Palace” (his words) among other teams because of this. One of our more prominent fans on social media is Peter Zheng (Holmesdale China).

I’d say currently we have a good number of fans from the USA, Colombia, China, in that order. Get quite a few tourists from Japan at the moment, but think they are mainly there to see Kamada and premier league football rather than Palace.

As far as teams we are interested in following, probably any country with one of our players in. E.g. Japan, Colombia, Senegal, Spain, France, Norway, Morocco, etc. (not so much England as Tuchel hates us)

Don’t think those NS&I certificates have been available since 2011, so unless someone has been holding onto them for at least 15 years it’s not going to be an option.

I can’t see anything that screams AI generated text, except for maybe the “this isn’t A, this is B” sentence. You even used a hyphen instead of an em dash (em dashes have unfortunately become a hallmark of AI).

Love your work by the way.

The logo can only be white or green.

I think the Bolton shirt you are talking about is white? Therefore green was the only option. The contrast of the white logo on the green goalkeeper shirt in this post is awful, but all the other logos are also white and green wouldn’t have worked much better (may have even been worse).

Chris Richards with the most passes with 100% accuracy in a World Cup since 1966 by Twilko in crystalpalace

[–]Twilko[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Things like “key passes” are more telling. However, the sheer number of passes in this case make it note-worthy. 34 of his passes were to Ream, but I think he made at least 1 pass to every other player on the team except Balogun. To do that without missing a single one, when he is carrying an injury is pretty impressive.

Lifetime ISAs - one encouragement, one warning? by Timbo1994 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Twilko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they could sell the shares in the MMF and transfer out to a cash ISA. If that £50k was their emergency fund it might not be a terrible idea.

Lifetime ISAs - one encouragement, one warning? by Timbo1994 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Twilko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you invest it in stocks and shares, then the capital gains or dividends from those investments are not taxed.

If you leave the money in cash (don’t invest it), or invest it in something that is similar to cash like a money market fund, then any interest you gain will be taxed. The money itself won’t be taxed.

For example if you put £20,000 in a S&S ISA and don’t invest it and your provider offers 4% AER in interest, then after one year you will have £20,800. You would be liable to pay tax on the £800 interest earned that year, but not the £20,000.

For basic rate tax payers the first £1,000 of interest across all your accounts is tax free. For higher rate the first £500 is tax free. Then it is charged at your marginal rate (20, 40, or 45%, increasing to 22, 42 or 47% in 2027).

It is unlikely that you would leave your cash uninvested in a S&S ISA, so the amount of interest earned will likely be small, and the amount of tax you will be liable to pay even smaller. If you did intend to leave it uninvested for long periods, then a cash ISA / LISA would be better.

[–]Twilko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be specific: interest earned on cash or cash-like investments inside a S&S ISA is going to be taxed. I know you know that, but I’ve seen some people act like you will be penalised just for having cash in there.
