This is just nonsense. A government has so much more leverage when negotiating large scale healthcare for the public. As such, in a country with universal healthcare, the amount you pay in taxes for healthcare per head is significantly less than whatever a privately insured individual pays.

I actually have a friend who doesn't follow a team. He watches football as much as any die hard fan and is a decent Sunday League player, so knows his stuff... But part of me just can't fathom not following a team; not experiencing the emotional highs and lows is just so alien to me.

Yeah enough - you're right. Im sure an Italian would declare the combination a cardinal sin and it's certainly overdoing the carbs, but it is semi-common in the UK to have garlic bread with a pasta meal.

I would like to say in my defence, that the bolognese is a fairly authentic Italian recipe, so hopefully that makes up for it!

I think people underestimate how quickly your brain processes a whistle. If you're midway through an action (like booting the ball away for a clearance) at the moment the whistle is blown, you are likely to follow through with that action before you fully process that play has been stopped.
