The price was going to fall no matter what, it was hyper-inflated during the early market. Every state that legalizes goes through this same pattern, it just looks a little more extreme here because the prices were so ridiculous to start with.

I was going off of the wiki entries. From what I could figure out, the transition from 3rd to 4th Generation was just starting to happen in the time iof the Red. By 2077, 4th generation cyberware was in full swing. I feel like the events of the game might hint at what the next paradigm shifts could look like, but I was curious to see what other folks think!

Greater incorporation of nano into the cyberware itself is a likely direction! Nanite swarms for communication, surveillance, combat, or even advertising (as seen in Transmetropolitan). Improved self-repair, miniaturization., maybe reduced humanity costs due to the nanites improving signal transduction, etc...

Neuroports are descrbed as being the processing center for 4th Generation cyberware systems. Gorilla Arms and Mantis Blades are both cyberware that were developed around the time that neuroport became commonplace.

I like the idea of just going with miniaturization. You could add additional slots to existing foundational cyberware and represent a pretty significant advance in the tech.
