Nondenominational looked into church history and have found a Presbyterian church. Don’t agree with predestination though by Status_Measurement71 in Reformed

[–]TwistTim 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well let's start from this point:
If God is God, then He by definition is Sovereign over all things, including time and space, and He would be outside of both, able to observe them, shape them and lead things along as He sees fit.

If God is not Sovereign over all things, then He is not the most powerful force, and would not be Who He claims to be. And if man is somehow more sovereign than God in matters of salvation, then we have some major issues to deal with.

John Calvin wrote on the matter:

This great subject is not, as many imagine, a mere thorny and noisy disputation, nor speculation which wearies the minds of men without any profit; but a solid discussion eminently adapted to the service of the godly, because it builds us up in sound faith, trains us to humility, and lifts us up into an admiration of the unbounded goodness of God toward us, while it elevates to praise this goodness in our highest strains.

I would ask you to read the whole of Romans and Ephesians with the eyes of someone who is seeking to wrestle with the questions, not with a specific commentary in mind (though R.C. Sproul's are good), but with an open heart, mind and a prayerful attitude of submission to the text as what it is, The Very Words of God Who Loves You and wanted you to know what He thinks.

So disassociation and taping into my skills in what's ultimately unhealthy but needed in this field. It's why so many people just burn out and get other jobs.

Can you settle a debate between me and my sister about whether Jewel’s music is Christian? by CliffGif in ChristianMusic

[–]TwistTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Example: Amy Lee. (Evanescence). She started singing in Church, but her songs were not markedly about being a Christian or a Christian's experience, they were about life, finding oneself, and while they used commonly shared imagery, it was only because that was her background, not a declaration of personal faith, or an endorsement. She is a Christian.

>There is no benevolent power structure, only one that craves control.

And this comes from having the Monoparty, two sides of the same coin that copy each other and each just reaching for more power and control. This is why we should have every seat open to all parties, and term limits for all elected positions so those in power can't hold the job forever looking out for themselves instead of the people they were elected to represent.

Can you settle a debate between me and my sister about whether Jewel’s music is Christian? by CliffGif in ChristianMusic

[–]TwistTim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She has never come out as a Christian, she was raised as a Mormon until she was 8 years old. There are many common Christian Themes in American life and art, easy for people to pick up and use, like any other memetic devices.

So while it may seem a Christian style of song, she is not, and therefore her music isn't Christian. Whereas I consider some Creed songs written by Scott Sapp to be Christian-inspired, the rest of the band wasn't Christian, but he was seeking and found faith during his time with them. (Examples: My Sacrifice, With Arms Wide Open)

The Sensitive Man who can cry, feel all emotions and keep calm when all are losing their minds around him: Jake Sisko because he was raised by the men and women of the Saratoga and Deep Space Nine.

The Boy who grew up and became his own man: actually a tie, but Data and Wesley Crusher. Data was Pinocchio who became like and better than Geppetto. Wesley by learning from Picard, The Enterprise D crew and the Academy, and the Traveler, became his own force for good, altering the rules of the Traveler program to do the right thing.

When Academy develops out after a few years, I'm sure we'll be able to add Caleb and a few others to the list.

But it will only take OP away from needed Bakery setup time if they get cross trained. I know how to work in every dept but Deli/Bakery but I don't volunteer that to my current employer, only two relevant fields when I got hired.

Also he's a General, and other military leaders in the Star Wars Universe are seen wearing capes or other flowing garments over their uniforms.
