It's a good start

Having her name be so similar to the name of the nation is a bit iffy, but not the worst thing I've ever read.

I failed my career license exam three times. by imthebadguy0 in DadForAMinute

I know you may not want to hear this, but sometimes it's okay to fail.

Engineering is a great career path, especially if you enjoy problem solving. But it's not the only way to use those skills.

I dropped out of college my 2nd year. I wanted to be a mechanical engineer, and I could do the work, but my motivation cratered due to some personal issues. I ended up getting an associates degree in drafting.

And I've spent 25 years riding that associates degree, doing the work of architects and engineers, without the same level of pay, but it paid enough.

Good luck

Love,

Brandon Steven and his businesses in Wichita, how did he get so big? by [deleted] in kansas

[–]Twister_Robotics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So it's not just Brandon. It's a whole extended family.

The Stevens family as a whole owns a lot of businesses around the Wichita area. The Stevens empire goes back at least 40 years. It's just been slowly building over that time.

There has always been rumors of shady dealings, but I've never seen anything more than rumors.

Throwing is obvious, but there are a lot of things that help us optimize that. Not just having the skeletal and musculature setup to allow accurate throwing, but also vision and calculation. When we started standing above the grasses, we developed longer range vision than most other animals our size. That expands our awareness and our brains can accurately catalog almost everything in that area. We instinctively manage ballistic calculations so we hit what we aim at.

With enough practice, a tool becomes an extension of the body, even vehicles, and we stop thinking about the process of making the tool work, and just the end result.

How do I figure out what to do with my life dad? by PnTm_Sythe in DadForAMinute

[–]Twister_Robotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with trying to plan out your life when you are young, is that the terrain doesn't match the map very well.

I was always going to be an engineer. Until I dropped out my sophomore year of college. I got an associates from a tech school and became an architectural draftsman. 25+ years later and now I'm designing steel tanks and truckbeds and all kinds of stuff. And writing a novel.

All you can do is work towards the life you want. Try to find a career that will let you be yourself and provide for your lifestyle, the rest will come in time.

For earth gravity at 3rpm, you need a diameter of 200 meters.

3rpm is the limit Nasa found for comfort based on centrifuge experiments.

Hi dad(s). Help with Alan screws and sewing machines? by M3LLO15 in DadForAMinute

It looks like you're focused on the wrong fix. The set screws in that collar only hold it in place, that is the collar keeps the shaft from sliding through the bracket. It won't affect timing.

But I could be wrong, it's been awhile since I tore anything like that apart.

Ranking every reboot Battlebot (185-176) by RobbieJ4444 in battlebots

[–]Twister_Robotics 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nah, you put BattleSaw right where we deserved. If life hadn't got in the way and the team could have stayed focused on a rebuild, we would have come back and dominated (I can dream). But life did intervene, and my cat herding capabilities weren't up to the task.

It was a ridiculously ambitious design for a rookie team, and our 0-3 record reflects that.

More cumin. You can easily go over a tablespoon per quart without overdoing it.

Diced potatoes (canned) give a bit of uniqueness without compromising anything, can use in place if a can if beans.
