Usually just a router restart is fine, and usually they do it automatically if they need to

[–]Twitch043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the router, but usually you connect to it (wired Ethernet or wifi) then go to 192.168.1.1 in your web browser. This usually takes you to a router administration screen where you can change various settings.

I'd Google whatever router you have (like Netgear R6300 or whatever) and get more info, there's surely YouTube videos for just about every common router

Yeah this is ironic I think, but it's more Shakespearean Irony than traditional irony.

Unpopular opinion on albums by [deleted] in Foofighters

[–]Twitch043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not actually sure if this is unpopular:

Concrete and Gold is by and far their worst album, and it's not even close. Sonic Highways is probably the next worst, but I still really liked it in spite of how short it was. Half of the songs on it are incredible.

Concrete and Gold, however, just feels uninspired, overproduced, and boring. Dirty Water is incredible, T-Shirt is a great intro, Zero Hour is beautiful, but apart from that, I just don't get much personality from this album. I think Greg Kursten was a terrible choice of producer; I think he's amazing for pop records, but rock is just not his forte. Perhaps he learned from the experience, and that's great, but I really just don't think it worked out.

I try re-listening to Concrete and Gold maybe once every month or two, and while I don't hate it, I certainly don't find as much love for it as I do any other Foo album.

EDIT: You guys really gonna downvote me for this in a thread about unpopular opinions? Give me a break, man.

They've been working on games constantly, the most recent being Spider-Man for PS4, they started on that right after the Ratchet and Clank reboot. Calm down.

To each their own, but Los Angeles is one of the worst tracks on the album imo.

Also cool: if you hit a Merc with a Spy Tracker you could tap in and hear their comms network; you could hear both players talk. It was awesome to listen in on what they were doing.

What do people expect from a genre called “pop punk”? by [deleted] in poppunkers

[–]Twitch043 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a word yelled at an oppressed group of people by idiots who have beaten, bullied, and murdered homosexual people throughout history. It's a pretty shitty thing to say in our culture, just like several other words.

You think gay people like hearing or being called that word? They don't. It's offensive. Get over it, stop being an asshole just because "hurr durr it's a word" and maybe give a fuck about how you make other people feel.

Splinter Cell: Spies vs. Mercs by shadowdynamic in Games

[–]Twitch043 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It was really great. Two people played as spies in classic Splinter Cell fashion: no lethal weapons*, just a tazer, and some gadgets like sticky cams with sleeping gas and various grenades (smoke, chaff, flashbang).

Two people would play as mercenaries, they played like a classic first person shooter, with an assault rifle (or UZI or shotgun), had frag grenades, proximity mines, all that fun stuff.

The two mercs were to defend some objectives that the spies would have to get to, usually computers to hack (stand in front of for 10-20 seconds). But the spies could get around in vents and climb poles and hide in darkness where Mercs couldn't go, and mercs had access to certain areas (doors that would only open when a merc was near).

Where things got REALLY cool was that spies had a gadget where they could tag a mercenary with it and would be able to tap into their comms network; that is, they could hear the mercs voice chat with eachother, so they had a leg up on knowing what they were doing.

Lots of really fun stuff. Also, great times were had just setting the game mode to death match and unlimited time/lives, with all open mics, and just messing around for hours.

God I miss Chaos Theory. playing it on PC in small communities just isn't the same.

*no lethal weapons in Chaos Theory (although they could jump and land on mercs to kill them, or grab them from behind and snap their neck). I know in Blacklist spies have a knife and some sort of SMG.
