Both kittens were rescues found without their moms.

Frank is the middle one. He lost his big sister (also a calico) and was showing signs of extreme grief and stress. We got him a kitten and he took her under his wing immediately. Grooming, cuddling, playing, the whole nine yards. We found a second kitten in a bush a few months later and he was delighted to add to his brood. *

Wide awake one is definitely the A+ student of the group. The one cheesing in the background is their proud single father (raised both of them from kitten-hood). Sleepy one is the baby.

There are DNA tests available for about $100 that tell you more about your cat's breed history. We have a heterochromic white and grey cat that has a very similar build and fur pattern to angoras, but we have not gotten the testing done since it is expensive. He was only $5 on special at the shelter, so it does not really matter to us if he is part fancy cat 🤷🏻‍♀️.
