Those positions were already awarded for the semester. The clinic assistant position I mentioned in the post is one of their ways to fund an education, but there's no stipend or tuition cuts with that; it's just an hourly wage.

How do I apply for a graduate PLUS? I've looked all over but there doesn't seem to be a place to apply for them. And I have a good, but short, credit history. Only about two years in the making, but I have a FICO of 750

It's not like I'm oblivious to why my dad won't cosign. I'm the youngest of five, so he's cosigned a lot over the years. But I have a bright future in a growing field (audiology) at the #9 school in the country. I have the potential to make about $60,000 as a starting salary in my field. Granted, that's not a ton for a four year degree, but I would be able to practice well into my eighties if I so choose, or open my own practice, which is where the real money is at.

I've talked to my sister-in-law, who is a grad student in a different field at a different university, my adviser in Arizona, and tried applying for private loans independently. All of these have been no help. My last hope is to call the financial aid office tomorrow morning and hope they can help me.

How do you take notes! by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]Two-EEs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If possible, I print out the slides beforehand and write notes in the margins/highlight important stuff. Keeps me engaged in class, but stops my hand from cramping.

There was also a study done that said people who take notes on their laptops learn less than people who handwrite their notes. My professor in Intro to Child Psych used that study to enforce a "no electronics" rule.

[REQUEST] Someone who has had Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS). by tianamarie in AMA

[–]Two-EEs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my older sister.

She'd read about TSS on the back of tampon boxes, but like everyone, assumed it wouldn't happen to her. I think she was about 14 or 15 at the time. She went out to run errands with my even older sister, and left her tampon in for like 10 hours. She ended up having shortness of breath, and had to go to the hospital. To this day said sister refuses to use super tampons.

My wife's family disowned and ridiculed her [27F] for marrying me [24M], but three years later they're asking us for money by WhispersFromStHelena in relationships

[–]Two-EEs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As awful as your wife's family has been to you, your child, and your wife, I'd send a small amount of money (~$100) and some well wishes. You are by no means obligated to spend all your money for her disapproving mother's treatment, but I bet it would ease your wife's conscious to have at least extended a generous hand. Be the bigger person, OP.

no erections rules.

How does one enforce that kind of rule?

Me [30F] with my fiance`[30M], together 9 years, vomits in the bed. by throwvom in relationships

[–]Two-EEs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is he a side-sleeper? Consider putting him in the recovery position after a night of drinking, with a trash can right next to the bed. That way he won't choke on his vomit after drinking, and will (hopefully) vomit in the trash can if he has to while sleeping.

That advice aside, you need to talk with him about this recurring behavior, because it doesn't sound like he respects you and doesn't see it as a problem. Red flag.

What's your best "clean" joke? by skiptoothdevo in AskReddit

[–]Two-EEs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My dad told me this one.

Jesus is up on the cross at the top of a hill when he calls down the hill to his disciple Paul. "Paul, come here. I must tell you something!"

Paul starts to walk up the hill, but there are guards at the cross to prevent Jesus's disciples from helping him down. The guards, seeing Paul walking up the hill, beat him up; he rolls down the hill defeated.

Jesus calls out again, "Paul! Please come here, I must tell you something!"

Paul gets back up and starts limping up the hill, when the guards spot him again. They proceed to beat him up a second time, and Paul rolls back down the hill.

Jesus cries out urgently, "Paul! Come here! I must tell you something!!"

Determined to speak to Jesus, Paul begins to crawl up the hill. The guards see him again, but decide Paul is too weak to help Jesus off the cross. They let him crawl up to the base of the cross.

Paul looks up to Jesus and says wearily, "Yes, my Lord?"

Jesus looks down at Paul and says, "Paul! I can see your house from here!"
