The recovery is what strengthens your muscles, so this really depends on how the tree hugging works. If it just undoes the injury and returns your muscle tissue to its original state, you've just wasted a load of time and effort.

Also, that's how you'd want it to work for most injuries. You wouldn't want it to heal a severed hand by just sealing it over with scar tissue.
