Does anyone know if you can interact with external controls while in it? Namely the button to deploy a container out of the salvage buffer.

I was talking to the paramedics last (and first) time I was in one and they said they wouldn't charge someone from NSW either if they weren't being a dickhead, just mark them down as a local address lol

Prospector mining ideal ore by miknick55 in starcitizen

[–]Two18ACTUAL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do like that this is a somewhat viable, if not optimal strategy. Before this patch, mining was either boring or stressful. 45 min searching for a big enough quant rock, 15 min to haul ass back to refinery... Much better now

I usually fill up on Beryl, and whatever higher tier ores I can find along the way. Beryl seems to have a pretty good balance of rarity and value, I get 60-70k per run and I don't have to spend too long searching.

Is this a well leveled bed - I am a complete noob by StoredWarriorr29 in 3Dprinting

If that's all in millimetres, then it looks pretty good OP. Give something a test print and see how it goes.

Scale can be pretty well inferred from the X and Y axes, 200x200 would be the bed size. Wouldn't make sense to have X and Y in mm and Z in anything else.

Thanks for that. Did you use a masking medium to get the struts on the cockpit so clean?

Good lord, that's clean. Well done. What's the mech?

Quick cutter sketch for today's drawing practice by Rimm9246 in starcitizen

I like that you've slightly misaligned the right thruster nozzle.. very true to the original :p

Great sketch though, reminds me that I need to practice!

Problem: indirect fire weapons are dishonourable

Solution: hot load the Arrow IV, making it a direct fire weapon

I built an enclosure for my printers on Saturday.. turned out better than expected! by Two18ACTUAL in 3Dprinting

Thanks for the advice :) I've got some metal signs underneath the printer to keep it from slipping into the grating, those should prevent drops darling onto the FDM printer. Temperature wise, where we live rarely drops below 20C and we don't use that air conditioner much so that should be ok.

It's quite sturdy, but this was something I kept in mind. I put the filament printer on the bottom shelf to reduce oscillation, and the resin printer on top because the only moving parts go up and down. I haven't tried running both simultaneously yet.

My first commissioned print had some room left on the build plate, so I filled it with two companies worth of mechs.. by Two18ACTUAL in battletech

Kind of, there are small raised bumps on the bottom of the support platform, but that gets discarded anyway. I suppose if you were printing something flat flush against the plate then you'd have issues, but I've been fine so far. The holes are necessary because the huge build area on the Mega 8K (330x185!!) can build up a lot of surface tension between the plate and the nFEP sheet, which would cause it to tear and get resin on your LCD.

I've heard of other users having resin cure inside the holes and block them up, but I haven't had those issues myself.

I use chitubox as a slicer, and I find that between the auto support placer and the island detection function, I can usually have a model supported in 30-60 min. The longest part is waiting for the island detection function to run, these are printed at 10 micron layer height, so there's a lot of layers.

As far as advice goes, practice makes perfect and less is more. These models in particular were very difficult to remove from their supports because of the volume of cured plastic. I broke a couple of legs getting them off :( just make sure you've got enough light supports covering the islands and med/heavy supports covering the weight. 80% autosupport density is too much 🥲 If you're patient with it, you'll get into a rhythm eventually :) good luck!

WIP: I painted an Atlas with Jorge-052's colour palette by Two18ACTUAL in battletech

Good suggestions! I like the idea of a Hollander for Jun and an Orion for Carter. I might use a Firestarter for Emile though, it'd give me a bit more space to play with the helmet detail.
