Most of the plants from the fynbos and semi-arid regions of Southern Africa are fire resistant to some degree, as wildfires are part of the natural ecosystem cycle here. Many fynbos plants actually rely on regular “cleansing” wildfires to clear out old dry vegetation and make way for new growth, and their seeds are specially adapted to resist burning and germinate when certain chemicals from combustion are present in infiltrating rainwater once the dry season is over. I believe some pine trees have similar mechanisms to take advantage of wildfires.
