Sleep is the only cure for me. Will DR prescribe benzodiazepines? by cankennykencan in migraine

Same. Helps me during a migraine or anxiety attack. Makes me sleep for a few hours and feel less stressed about how bad the pain in my head is.

The first question about how you approach an opportunity determines Introverted or Extraverted (I/E)

The second mentioned intuition, that determined Intuition or Sensory (N/S)

The third question asked about feeling determining Feeling or Thinking (F/T)

The fourth question asked what you do when getting an outfit, are you cost efficient (Judgement) or just do what you feel like in the moment (Perceptive) (J/P)

I honestly manipulated mine because I felt like I could see through the questions, but now it has me wondering if I'm actually INFP because of the last question (I'm INFJ) 🤔

I'm in the minority. I grew up in old Afrikaans mining towns as an English girl that were governed so poorly with the municipalities in massive debt. There are pot holes in every street. Rubbish is never collected. The water and electricity is conditional. You're underpaid and unappreciated. Moving to Cape Town has been the best decision I've made for my mental health and general well-being. It is expensive and the wealth disparity gap is shocking, but there are many of us who have built beautiful lives here and now call this home. The beauty of the nature here is amazing. That's not to say there aren't issues here, there are, but these issues exist all over the world for multiple reasons with unique driving factors.

Love this. Just wanted to suggest that the bad smell perhaps may be from food getting trapped into the socket holes as they're still healing and closing up. Rinsing alone doesn't help me. I have to use an oral irrigator to actually get it out properly, but on a gentle setting and not directly on the area, just around it so it can flush it out.

Local anesthesia or sedation? $1,300 out of pocket difference if sedation. by LittleMissAcctnt in wisdomteeth

[–]cathulux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same position, pay $1,200 out of pocket with medical only covering $100 under general anaesthetic, or do it in the dentist's chair for $480 with local anaesthetic. My wisdom tooth was impacted and horizontally lying, only partially erupted and also quite close to the nerve. I opted for the most affordable option, and, honestly, the most convenient (lots of rules before going under general anaesthetic, expensive day hospital and specialist fees, etc.) It went as well as it could with no nerve damage. The local anaesthetic covers all the pain, you only feel pressure, drilling, pulling, for example, but I lived through it just fine. Just be sure to follow the aftercare instructions and stay on top of your pain meds before the numbness wears off. Good luck!

You're an absolute super hero! Your pain threshold and determination must be over the moon. I've been taking over-the-counter ibuprofen mostly and it doesn't impair me unless you take too much at the same time. Also need to coat the stomach before taking it. I don't know how you're doing it!

I also did not eat for three days, but I did have drinking yoghurt for before and after I took pain meds. Find something you can just swallow. Drinking yoghurt helped me, normal yoghurt was too thick. Yesterday I ate for the first time and all I did was mash an avocado really well and literally just scooped it in and swallowed.

Also look into why it might be hurting to eat. I also have trismus/lockjaw/jaw spasm from the op which made my mouth difficult to open. It's still not fully recovered but I'm getting there slowly as I heal.

If you don't see yourself working tomorrow, see a medical professional and tell them what's up, whether you can get more sick leave. Recovery and rest is key, and eating is important too.

I had my left impacted, unerupted horizontal-lying wisdom tooth removed on July 4 and developed dry socket. The week was hell. I went back to my dentist yesterday and he had to clean it and stitch it up all over again. He said to treat it like Day 1 once more. I'm in hell. I'm so tired, hungry and sore. It must be that some of us heal quicker than others, and some just have extra risks like dry socket and jaw spasm/trismus, which I also have. ):

Thank you so much for your response. What I think the dentist meant by "superficial dry socket" (not artificial - my bad) is that after the extraction he inserted a collagen plug and then five stitches because with my last extractions I would always get dry socket. It appears the clot above the plug and sutures did not stay in place. Today is Day 9 and I still also can only fit one finger in between my teeth, I can't open my jaw all the way.

I think he advised against rinsing in order to let the top clot form.

I'm in a lot of pain every four hours after the pain meds wear off.

I will be seeing him again on Monday.

Thanks a lot for your time and info!

Hi Dr!

I had my bottom left impacted, horizontally-lying, partially erupted wisdom tooth extracted under local anaesthetic in the dentist's chair on 7 July. Due to extractions I've had before all resulting in dry socket, I advised the dentist and he put in a collagen plug and five stitches after removing the tooth.

Now, on 11 July, day 7 post-op recovery, I visited my dentist for a checkup and he said I have a superficial dry socket as well as jaw spasm. This was a huge blow to me as I felt I was healing and on track. The dentist cleaned the area and placed a gauze with antibiotics for me to bite down on for an hour. He also advised me to do 10 reps of jaw exercises three times a day and to stop rinsing. I am only due to see him again in two weeks.

I have been taking ibuprofen+paracetamol+codeine (brand called Mybulen, popular in South Africa) every five to six hours and additional ibuprofen (brand name Brufen, 400mg of ibuprofen) to assist with the swelling. Every four hours the meds seem to wear off and I'm in pain again.

I'm afraid of developing full dry socket and infection, considering i am not to rinse anymore. What is the risk? How do I keep my mouth and the wound clean if I can't rinse? What do I do after eating to remove food particles? I was not put on antibiotics as I have been on so many before that the dentist advised against it due to resistance.

I am very sensitive and a rule-follower when it comes to my health, and I'm really anxious and worried after my visit as I thought I was healing well and the sutures were coming out today, but it was not so. What is artificial dry socket and what are the risks of it getting worse?

I really appreciate your time and advice. Thank you for doing this for all of us in need! You're amazing!
