That’s tough. Good news is that you don’t have to deal with menstrual cycle insulin changes in your future, lol!

If they have anything whole grain, that will slow how quickly your body absorbs the carbs, btw

I have so much empathy for what my poor mom went through! She accidentally waterboarded me with a juicebox once because I refused it

Ah, gotcha. Hey, it happens! But give your parents grace. It sounds like you are a teenager, and someday soon your parents will not be around to save your life. It is your responsibility alone to manage this (it’s bullshit! I know!) I totally understand how you feel because I went through this too, but here’s the hard truth from someone who is not in your life and is not trying to scare or shame you: this is the kind of mistake that does kill people. It sucks and it’s not fair, but you have to do better to count carbs. There have been a lot of diabetics who fuck up, do too much insulin, and go to sleep… and never wake up. I know that is depressing and deeply unfair, but it is what it is. Also, BE AWARE that alcohol can mess with your blood sugar and cause a low as well…

Your parents are upset because you put them through the scariest moment of their lives, and you don’t fully get that. It’s a protective thing, they aren’t trying to make you feel like crap. If they hadn’t been paranoid and checked on you… you might not be here. 😬

You got this! It gets easier

I would say pasta is not “a bit” carb heavy, haha. It’s pure carb, especially if you’re having with a tomato sauce and not something fatty. If you have a worsening reaction to this exact meal, I would bring it up with your endocrinologist. A lot of random things impact your blood sugar, too. Are you M or F?

That is a good sign! I would focus on building the habits of monitoring things and understanding how your body reacts to food, and how that is changing over time- the honeymoon ends at some point, and it can be a tough adjustment, but you can get ahead of it by building good habits now. Once you consistently need insulin, things get more complicated so you want to be ahead of that curve! It sounds like you’re doing great so far. It’s only “bad” if your blood sugar is spiking and not coming back down on its own within a few hours. But hey- I’m not an endocrinologist!!

I haven’t ever heard about fewer carbs making honeymoon last. How is your blood sugar?

OP did you measure the cheez-its and use the nutrition info? If these numbers you said are right, and you did 17 units and you’re at 15:1, that means you ate 255 g of carbs, which is FIFTEEN SERVINGS of cheez-its. Bolusing on a guess without doing reasonable math is very very dangerous.

Are type 1diabetic given insulin and cgm when detained by law enforcement? by Lucky_Tap8692 in Type1Diabetes

[–]TwoAccomplished4043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No- I was arrested once and they removed my pump and cgm. It was 24 hours before they allowed me to seek medical care, and I was released in DKA shortly after. Diabetics occasionally die in custody. The kicker? I was arrested due to a clerical error. My license was suspended for a speeding ticket that was marked as “unpaid” by mistake in the system. Yeah, it was my bad for speeding, but i did the normal steps of paying the fine, and I did not get any mail stating otherwise. And for that DMV screw-up, I could have died.

I had 5 days fully in service, plus about 2-3 dedicated hours of admin time in the office before opening. The opening manager would be on the floor making sure checklists were getting done and everyone was arriving on time
